Discipline

I have no problem with seeing our players stand up for one and other in the slightest. It shows that they are a proper team!

I’m not buying this “lack of discipline” talk either. It takes two to tango and this was all provoked, at most it was handbags at dawn and whilst stupid….it’s commitment and passion.

There's a difference between 'pashun' and stupidity....Robo's challenge (which nearly snapped the BC player in half) and also Egan's wrestling of their CF is passion, Baldrick's attempts at getting involved in every fracas is idiocy...

Just picking up on the fact that was it 6 yellows last night ?? in a game which, apart from the stupid head butt, wasn’t really that dirty. Hull definitely came to play football and not spoil the game.

I don’t watch other teams in the Championship so can’t comment otherwise, but the amount of pointless yellows we pick up is worrying in the fact that at some point we’ll have suspensions which could disrupt the team.

There is a very narrow gap between anger, frustration and petulance. Some of our players get a reputation for having a short fuse.

McBurnie is fiercely loyal but thick as mince. He will put up with shirt pulling for only so long, and then he snaps and decks his opponent.

I am sure there are techniques available to channel and focus this kind of anger more appropriately, but it might remove a valuable part of his game.

Unless you are a real hard nut you don’t want to be tangling with the likes of McBurie, Ahmedhodzic or Robinson. It’s good to have these guys around the squad for togetherness.

The only solution I can suggest is for a well worded letter from the head teacher to their mothers. It worked for me and kept me out of bother, but I never my temper completely.
😇

Teams like us (and Burnley) are proving hard to beat and we can expect teams to practice the dark arts to provoke a reaction in an attempt to unsettle us and give away needless bookings or sendings off.

Just a shame it backfired for Dull last night!

Very noticeable from minute one that Hull wanted to wind the players up. Their number 19 giving Anel and Egan off the ball barges , kicks and elbows, counted half a dozen times he did this out of the Refs sight. Their number 44 had a couple of off the ball swipes at Wes. Don’t mind teams getting tough ,but off the ball out of the Refs sight, they got what they deserved, squat.
To be fair, I think Hull could do us a couple of favours throughout the rest of the season by nicking a few points off the chasing pack, play decent football if they would cut out that shit stuff.

At least they were picked up in a tight game and mostly for fouls in challenges that needed making. Robinson treads a fine line, but he needs that nastiness as he’s limited in other ways.

Also pleasing that nobody reacted to red card incident. I still have nightmares about Matt Lowton and Harry Maguire vs Oldham.

There was a couple of genuine yellows, like the Doyle and Anel ones but most of them were the Ref being fucking useless.
He did his best to make it about him all game

Looking at the records for yellow cards we are overall doing badly, in that we are 21st in the fair play league with 60 yellows and a couple of reds.

However only Anel, Egan and Mcburnie are in danger of hitting the 10 games by match 37 with 7, 6 and 6 so far

We're picking daft cards up an if we keep going at this rate we'll start losing players for suspensions.

Anel on 7, McBurnie and Egan on 6.

I can hear the barrel being scraped as people desperately look for stuff to complain about. Can’t we go back to being shit and losing, it’s much easier to be miserable. I almost cracked a smile last night FFS.

The ref was card happy last night against us. It took him til the 57th minute to even show them a yellow. Literally booked every foul we made, apart from JLT.

I was surprised as I just assumed that red card was for us not them based on how the game had gone.

Hull appeared to be trying to convince the ref that we were dirty… even their fans didn’t react when their 44 fell over

Did Anel need to pull the lad back for an obvious yellow, about 10 minutes into the game, when they were about to break, but were still in their own half (I think) and he wasn’t the last man? It wasn’t anything to do with discipline, but it seemed a fairly cheap booking to pick up when there was an option to actually track back and defend the potential breakaway.

So we've managed to get past the 37 game marker with only 2 players having been suspended based on the yellow card rules.

Mcburnie got tagged for the 1 game ban for 5 in November? - one of those when he wasn't even on the pitch I recall:rolleyes:
Anel just got caught by the 10 yellow = 2 game ban

I think the next challenge is to get past game 45 with less then 15 and only Anel seems to be in danger of tripping that with 11 on the board so far. Can he navigate the next 8 games with only 3 more yellows?
Egan is next in line but would need 6 bookings in 8 games to trigger a suspension, so unlikely.

Not bad considering we have the 2nd highest number of yellow cards in the league. On roy's view from we are regularly tagged as dirty northern bastards and to be fair, I think they are on the money this season. I'd describe us as cynical at times which is a refreshing change in my opinion.

I do wonder if there is a bit of Leeds style rotation going on in the fact that we've managed to spread the yellow cards around so evenly as well. I do hope so.

Anel on 11 bookings.
Can anyone not see him being suspended again ?

Is it three games when you reach 15 bookings ?

4 bookings over the next six games and his season is over

He really needs a short summer school in how not to get booked. He's not going to go well with VAR if we do go up.

In fact, given VAR is in operation tomorrow I hope they're having a but of VAR training today. Don't grab shirts defending set pieces. Arms in at your sides defending your box etc.

11 bookings in 37* games is <1 booking in every 3 games

So carrying that forward over the next 6 games, he should get less than 2 bookings.

*I appreciate he hasn’t played in every game, but you get my point
