So is the 2-page article about "doing the city proud" published every year around 8th/9th April then?

I'll leap to Danny's defence here. After all, it is the 24th anniversary of said occasion and as we all know, that's a significant milestone in anybody's diary!!;)

Simple questions, if the Sports section and the retro section are overseen by different people, does anyone run features by other departments?

If it's the same crowd, did anyone join any dots and query the timing?

You only acknowledge birthdays if they end in 0 or 5, too I take it?

Does The Star run with the semi-final story this week every year then ? No thought not so why this time?
I can't remember if it was last year. You've got a better memory than me, you tell me. But it's the RETRO section, there's a clue

Yep, 25th anniversary next year so it'll be there again

I thought you couldn't remember Danny04

So can you now point me in the direction of the 12th anniversary article on the 1993 semi-final? While you're at it, you can also refer me to the 14th, 16th, 19th and 22nd anniversary articles. I'm sure your archives will have them and given that they are always on the same date, shouldn't be too difficult to find. In fact remind me, just how many of these anniversary "retro" articles has The Star done on the 1993 semi-final?

With respect, older doesn't always mean wiser in my experience. Feel free, please let me know the results. I'd be fascinated to hear them

That's the trouble with youngsters today, no respect for their elders!

I used to think like that when I was a little younger but as I grew older, I realised that on the whole, I was wrong:rolleyes:

Does it really matter in the overall scheme of things?
We've got promotion, it's been widely covered, the boss has been on national media, there's been plenty of coverage in the Star etc.
I'd have thought the real job of the Star (and Radio Sheffield for that matter) now should be campaigning for more tickets at MK Dons.

Yes it matters it attracts future supporters .

I haven't the time. I have a day job that demands experience and a little bit of wisdom. I was rather hoping that you, being on the spot as it were, might take the trouble. There isn't the slightest doubt that the bias exists and that it would be so reflected. Now would not be the right time in any event, being an exceptional month either way you look at it.

I suggest September. I'll give it a go if time permits. You will then, of course, manufacture an excuse and, if all else fails, go into denial.

Radio Carlos are just as bad.

There are staff at the The Star that thought posting an open letter by Coventry fan complaining about a chant made by a minority of Blades fans was worthwhile. Despite the chant not being racist, homophobic or sexist.

And Danny04 will get a bonus as someone will actually buy a Star every evening for a whole month! :D

Leave the poor kid alone, he's trying to give you insight in how they work. Nobody ever agrees 100% with how someone else works, particularly if it's press coverage of something you love. Doesn't mean you're right and they're wrong though. It also doesn't mean that some kind of institutional bias exists. remember the Star is owned by a national company based in Scotland, not some Wendy fan with an axe to grind.

For some reason, we've got a large number of fans who have some morbid paranoia that everyone is against us. Nobody gives a shit, mostly people just want to get paid and go home with as little stress as possible.

I think it's a relevant story for a retro piece and we recieved more than enough positive coverage over the weekend from The Star. If it's not enough then you've got two options, accept it and move on, or get stressed and let it bother you, I know which I'll be doing.

Danny04 thanks for your explanation and for your time and patience on here.

Cheers, Marty.

..and if people think that the Star is that crappy, there's nowt to stop them setting up their own local news outlet.

As has been mentioned, no one is forced to purchase the Star, it's there if you want it - and if you don't want to read it, just don't buy it, no worries. Try the Yorkshire Post instead, or just rely on Twitter, FB and forums like this.

Cheers Danny04 for the inside info. We don't all think you're "pig rag scum"

The stars biggest demographic is S5. S5 is a pig area (not as wide a margin as some would suggest mind). The star therefore aims towards its market.

Pigs.

That's from a star employee

I think you're closer to this than you admit, but I have no reason to buy a star or read any article from it. Unfortunately I have to see it on here, where certainly people are far more accurate than that hack called James, and now his tea boy Danny.

In my experience the Star has always had a Wednesday bias. Sometimes it is blatant, sometimes it is subtle, sometimes it just ignores Blades news. Too many examples have been highlighted just here today for it to be proven otherwise.

Oh perhaps on the Monday after the play off final If Wendy manage to get to the final you could reproduce the famous Green Un front page from the 5th of May 1990. After all it will still be within that Month. Or if they get knocked out in the Semis it would also be appropriate on that day or even if they do not make the playoffs.
All them days would be appropriate according to what you have done this week.

Yes I'll look forward to seeing you waltz down memory lane Danny04...

I won't however hold my breath.....

Inside info? Where? It's just been excuse after excuse and ignoring questions asked.

Here's a suggestion. Just don't click on any thread with the words "Star" or "Pig Rag" in the title

I've nowt to do with the Star btw,

That would be a perfectly sustainable argument and much more palatable than the present disingenuous charade.

The same goes for the hacks who insult our intelligence, having little themselves, on Radio Sheffield 5 and 6.
