Dirty pig rag at it again

....and this isn't one of them, as many Blades have already pointed out.

Stop digging, mate, and accept that The Star got it badly wrong.

Not digging at all. I was mentioned in this thread early on, attempted to give a reasonable explanation and been jumped on. As mentioned elsewhere, I'm only the tea boy with no responsibility. If you think we got it wrong, then fair enough - opinions and arseholes and all that.
Have a good day chaps

There aren't many other weeks in the year that correspond with April 3

Why not make it a bit more broader then ? Rather than Retro week or whatever it's called, how about "This month in sporting history" where you can then list all Sheffield Sporting triumphs ?

Load of bollocks, that RETRO article was run to undermine what SUFC achieved at the weekend plain and simple. Danny04 would be best served leaving the thread he can't openly admit The Star is biased or that they got the timing badly wrong even if it is obvious to 90% of blades fans

Fourth time I've addressed this now. Works a week behind.

But before it prints someone can take the decision to delay it a week or print it during the week or even on the 3rd?? Yes it's written a week early but it isn't printed then.

Surely every paper has other stories that aren't chosen for print that week that could have replaced it??

Also, you have to agree that a story about that game will never be taken well by Blades. It's like saying every Wendy should be pleased we're promoted because it's good for Sheffield.

You could have done it the week before reporting on the very newsworthy build up to the SF and included the game. Just needed a bit of joined up thinking but instead you seem to be of the opinion that it's actually okay and we are all being a bit precious about it when some decent management at your end would've prevented all this. Defend away Danny but I doubt there are many being fooled by your, well, excuses, there's no other word for it. As long as it's believed it wasn't deliberate.

Don't remind me. Tudgay's goal was a screamer but the Kop was a horrible place to watch it fly in from

I don't need to remind you Danny boy..............................

The Sheffield Star will no doubt do that for years to come;)

As a matter of interest, there is clearly a significant amount of antipathy towards your publication from the red and white side of Sheffield. Contrary to what you may think, much of this is based on what is actually printed in your paper, going all the way back to the "Save Our Owls" campaign of the mid '70's and the distinct lack of a similar campaign when United were in a similar position. While there has been some criticism on here that may be subjective, there are objective examples that have substance. While our feathered friends may delude themselves otherwise, the statistics would suggest that support in Sheffield is about 51-49% in the Owls favour, although I think there is evidence to suggest that is changing, certainly within the city itself.

Does it therefore not concern the powers that be at The Star that there is this antipathy from there or thereabouts half of the potential readership? For reference, this message board has numerous examples of people who no longer buy or read your paper and one of the reasons is the perceived bias against SUFC. I include myself in this category as I am a lapsed Star reader who at one time would purchase at least 3/4 times a week.

You're simply repeating yourself and ignoring the point that we were capable of being promoted last weekend and no one thought, hold on.

Even the Star publish the L1 table. It gives all sorts of details and you can work out certain possibilities from it. But......

I haven't read the Star for years purely because of it's blatant Wednesday bias. Why do I want to read something where the pigs are constantly being rammed down my throat? This goes back primarily to the pathetic "Save our Owls" campaign in the sixties. This was blatant bias and there has never been any similar campaign since on behalf of the other local clubs when they have been up shit street. I rest my case.

Edit. Apologies Bayingblade for mirroring your post, you "overtook" my typing speed.

Evidently we thought the seven pages on United promotion would be the focus, not two on Blades and Owls doing the city proud at Wembley 24 years earlier. I'm not some kind of official spokesperson, as I say I was dragged into this thread and tried to give some kind of insight into the process

Evidently there wasn't anywhere near enough thought.

Don't usually buy the dirty pig rag, but thought seeing as we got promotion it'll be full of Blades stuff, opened the centre page to find a retro special on the Wembley semi-final of '93 with the dirty pigs in full celebration mode.

They really are a disgusting classless bunch at the Star, the sooner they go belly up, the better. I'll not be spending another 75p on that prile of shite.

It's obviously practice for next year when it is the 25th anniversary of said event.

Either that or they're crap at maths.

If a dog shits on Penistone road you can be sure it will be reported that it's owner is a Unitedite.

Dog shit on the pavement eh?

That's a Council matter and the United supporting owner should be hit with a £50 fine.

The Council should also use this urgent 'new' evidence to review our safety certificate. If our fans allow their dogs to shit 3 miles from BDTBL, this is clearly an important safety issue and our capacity should be downgraded accordingly.

The Football League should also be informed. Given that it would set a new precedent to deduct us 10 points for one of fans letting his dog shit on the pavement, the FL would have to be sure of the facts. In the Star, you say? That will do then and double the penalty to 20 points as a deterrent.

My post was about the "Save our Owls" campaign, explain that instead of digressing.

Wouldn't have the first clue. I, and 50% of our sports desk, weren't even born then, never mind working for The Star

Well, just to inform you and your colleagues, it was plastered on every billboard around town and every newsagent not to mention front and back pages of your newspaper. For fucking weeks.

I see. Well, yesterday United were plastered on front and back

So in this piece about the 7-3, you(the Star) manage to mention that Wendy had their revenge. Perhaps it should've read; "many Wendy fans class this as their revenge but of course it is no where near the 7-3 score line of that great day in '53". Or is that perhaps mentioned in the retro pieces on the '79 game?

That is clearly not what I asked. I asked because you managed to even mention the boxing day game in your piece on the 7-3 game, Did you also manage to reference the 7-3 game in your piece on the Boxing day game?
So Danny04 . you seem to be dodging my question.

Don't know why anyone pays for this anymore, I just look at it online and select the Sheffield United section, tells me everything I need to know without wading through the piggy bull shit.
It takes half an hour for the fucking site to load. Worse than our sufc site.

Oh perhaps on the Monday after the play off final If Wendy manage to get to the final you could reproduce the famous Green Un front page from the 5th of May 1990. After all it will still be within that Month. Or if they get knocked out in the Semis it would also be appropriate on that day or even if they do not make the playoffs.
All them days would be appropriate according to what you have done this week.
