After seeing Max Lowe miss his penalty there earlier it got me thinking how many other players have transferred directly from united to Wednesday or vice versa? I know there’s plenty like Lavery and Clarke of recent years who’ve played for both clubs, but are there many more who have been transferred directly from one to the other? I can’t think of any others besides Lowe but I’m sure there must be more.

It wasn't Max Lowe that missed the penalty it was Jamal Lowe.

Oh ffs.

Last senior player to go directly from United to Wednesday before Max Lowe was Bernard 'Bunny' Oxley in 1934 for £1,000.

I seem to remember one reason Del Geary went to Stockport for a few games before Warnock signed him was to avoid the heat of going directly across the city. Could be total bollocks mind. Legend either way

We had to pay Wednesday a compensation fee for Lavery due to his age. No idea how much that was though.

"despite United accepting what would have been a British record transfer fee of £32,500 from Wednesday in February 1951. Hagan rejected the transfer and Wednesday were relegated to the Second Division."

We know the one they didn't get in the 50's SB, Jimmy Hagan. I normally reserve legend status for players who have won a trophy for the Club but that act alone deserves legendary status.

I used to occasionally deliver the mail to a solicitors office in Leeds where the receptionist was called Hagan.

The first time that I I went there I said to her "well I won't forget your name in a hurry".

She looked a bit perplexed so I had to explain it to her 🤣
