diminishing interest

I’ve given up until I can watch it live again. I don’t watch us on TV, just lost my mojo at the moment for it. The whole PL thing, the greed, as demonstrated by Lunny, when people are struggling and losing their jobs right left and centre. It just makes me cross.

There are some heartfelt and quite moving posts in this thread to be honest, but I do think that if we were pushing at the top end like last season instead of struggling at the bottom there would be far fewer Blades losing interest in the game. Even without the current Covid issues and VAR, I still lost all interest in the game at the end of Adkins’s reign and didn’t attend the last 3 games, but a few months under Wilder soon gave me my mojo back.

I wouldn't say my interest in Sheffield United has diminished as much as I feel disconnected from the club and football in general.

Watching on the Television is absolute and utter shite. I've also learned just how much being a supporter going to the games enriches the whole experience, and watching a match on the Television without supporters just shows you can't have one without the other.
I agree Zip, its a bit like a gin and tonic without the gin.

Just need to be back at the Lane, I will even now except the 20% crowds that they were going to trial in October. But I think we will need to wait until August even for that small a bone to be thrown to us.

I've just found my ticket stub for the Norwich game on the 7th of March. I kept it having a feeling it would be the last for a long time. I also remember watching Billy walking off the pitch after being substituted and wondering if that was the last time I'd see him play at the lane. I still hope that part can be proven wrong, but I still can't see us being back for a long time yet

Interesting really.

Maybe it’s the Emperor’s New Clothes.

Without the atmosphere, the tribalism, the copious beer and poor quality fast food..

Maybe football ain’t all that?

Football on TV is a fucking poor imitation of the real thing. Non league live V PL on tv?

I just miss that early Saturday alarm, that walk to the pub with your mates, that pre-match discussion with a oily cheese burger in your hands.

Miss that 100m sprint up shoreham street as the Greasy Chip Butty starts and you’re not in your set yet to sing it out for the lads.

Miss that after match buzz you get, and winding up your Wednesday mates.

I miss watching a stuck up Arsenal fan call our ground a shed, get refused entry because he’s too drunk, then beating them 1-0.

I just fucking miss it lads. Feels like I’ve lost a family member.

I’ll support them on the TV regardless but it’s not the same.

We never did say goodbye to Dean Henderson.

It is really shite at the moment and hard to get worked up about, but will be a bit less so for me if we can get summat against Chelsea. Just like the restart project was also a bit shit but less so when we had that winning streak in the middle.

I find watching games on TV frustrating as you can only watch what they choose to show you. A lot of the time you haven't got a clue what's happening off the ball as you can't choose to see the action that's not actually on screen. I think it's interesting to see action replays but when it shows up wrong decisions it can be a bit depressing. I hate canned crowd noise and avoid it if possible. I also hate commentators apologising on behalf of someone using bad language when most of the time you haven't even heard it!

Having said all that I would never miss a game on TV but look forward to actually going to games again and being part of the atmosphere. It would be good to think the diving, feigning injury, squealing, shirt pulling, blatant time wasting and other cheating could be removed from the game but I'm not holding my breath.

I don't think there would be quite as much doom and gloom if we'd got a few more points but we have to be realistic and realise we are up against world class players in most teams we have played this season. It's not so long ago that we were struggling against the likes of Bury, Crewe, Yeovil, etc (and look where some of them are now)

Don't think crowds will be back anytime soon but it's good news that Fleck and Mousset will be
