if the offer is withdrawn he can go for free !! .Clough obviously rated him or he wouldnt have been offere
a new contract, clough,s gone now but i think he was trying to get diego to put more effort in to the parts of his game he seems to think dont matter. If he accepts the contract Atkins will exactly the same as there is no room in the game today for lazy strikers in other words get his finger out and work hard at his weakspots in his game.
I for one and any blade worth his salt would want diego to make it but his work ethick has to improve drematically
Matty Done is a great example.

Why do you say Diego doesn't have a good work ethic?

Seriously, don't you think Clough had his own issues with strikers who weren't of a certain type?

Just because Clough had his issues with him and other players, some of whom have been absolutely fine with various other managers throughout their careers, should we not stereotype the lad or the other grown men similarly judged?

For example do you believe McNultyy is an unintelligent player who never does as insructed? One who has so many weaknesses that he deserved so many public chriticisms? Or could he be a player who should have his strengths developed instead?

Your are saying Clough has an issue with mcnultyand Diego my opinion. is he was trying to improve them. He signed mcnultyrtyard offered Diego a new deal that's not the mark of a manager who didn't think he could make better players. of them

McNulty has weaknesses to spare and his manager has a duty to tell him, in his own and our club's best interests.

Absolutely nobody is stereotyping Diego de Juve. You and others are actually stereotyping NC. Some players actually do cause problems, you know!

A bit of basic contract law for you all. If an offer is declined it ends. There is no need to 'withdraw it'. If Diego de Juve wants the contract he previously declined he can "offer" it to United, who will be free to accept, refuse or revise. I would reduce the wage for acting like a spoiled brat.

Come on, we will snatch Diego's hand off on this if we are lucky enough for him to deign to accept a contract. Juventus want him don't you know?

The recent CAS case between Genk and Lille explains the situation with contracts.

When youth players (u-21, I think) leave a club to go to another, the parent club is entitled to 'training compensation' providing they have offered the player a new contract. If there is no offer if a new contract no compensation is payable, unless the parent club can provide a good reason for not offering a new contract.
In the Genk case, they couldn't offer Origi a contract as he was still 15 when he left them to join Lille and under Belgian law, he can't be offered a contract until he is 16.

Some players cause problems, some managers cause problems. Cantona was crap under Wilkinson at Leeds. Evans never broke into a sweat for Blackwell or Adams. etc. etc.

That's the key to being a good manager - getting the most out of players, playing to their strengths - even home grown players Pinchy!

As for McNulty, no he is not the full package but he is a very calm and calculating goal scorer and that is a rare commodity. He has had one year in England, he is still young and he's trying to make his way and forge a career. That's why he'll start next season on the bench and he'll be thankful at that. Maybe he's one who will flourish under an encouraging manager, just like most human beings, he will respond to praise and constructive criticism man to man but not in front of the media and all 20000 fans and their grandmothers.

Cantona was not crap for Leeds. He was the opposite of crap.
And if rumours are to be believed he was sold for non-footballing reasons.

Cantona was a cult figure even at Leeds . The only crap surrounding Eric Cantona was SWFC not signing him when they had the chance. Long live Trevor Francis.

UTB

Diego and Higdon played up front together away at Preston in the cup and were surprisingly (or not) effective. As others have said though, for me its all about who's "up top" with Done.

Believe me Cantona was a shadow of the footballer at Leeds than he was at Manchester. I lived there at the time and he only played 28 games anyway and trouble and strife.

Anyway that strays from the point. Good managers get the most out of players, true?

Good, if true. :)

Generally speaking, yes. Providing the players are receptive to their methods and fit into a style of play they want to use.

That's good news, means he'll soon be gone.
That's good could mean he has signed a new deal I have been critical of Diego of late but I would love to see him make it with us and ime sure all blades will echo my. sentiments.COME ON DIEGO go

Bert wants us to have a good team, his recent performances indicate that he'll be departing.

Why him in particular?

So people on here would pick Diego ahead of Done, McNulty, Adams and even Higdon! Why? If you base your decision on the reports from U21 games, DCL would have more of a claim to a squad place than Diego.

I have watched Diego in the u 21 I rate his ability highly but he has. to harness this within the team.lthough I have been critical of his work rate that is something I'm sure atkins and his staff (Morgan) will work on.
Clough was trying to do this maybe atkins will try a different. Approach and be more successfully.to be sure if atkins doesn't get a response I fear for Diego,s future in the game.
there are many boy wonders that don't make it and my fingers are crossed. For Diego it would be a shame if he just faded away into non league football shirt

I genuinely hope he does fulfill his potential. I'm just a bit bemused by the amount of coverage he gets. Personally, I'm looking forward to seeing what Adkins does with the squad and what happens to Cloughs favourites and outcasts.

I agree that he should be given as much chance as anyone to impress, but no more. He hasn't made the most of previous chances, that's for sure. Instead he feels sorry for himself and blames the manager, or certainly does nothing to discourage such blame.

The problem is that De Juve, his Daft Dad and his legion of admirers on here think he is some sort of special case who can by-pass the hard yards. I'm pretty sure NA wil disabuse the Boy Wonder of any such thoughts.

Adkins. Our managers name is Adkins.

Please don't let this be another Kilgannon/McGuire job!
