Id be tempted to give him a game on saturday.
I cannot see Wilson naming a full strength team with two very important away matches coming up.

So, if I read this right kid comes from nowhere, signs for Blades through Academy and suddenly he is the solution to all our problems and should play on Saturday as apparently a run in the FA Cup really doesn't matter?

Oh and no one else was in for him even though we apparently fought off Biggleswade United and Rossendale for his signature.

When does the madness stop?

I'd give him 15-20 minutes of football on Saturday. Doubt it very much though, Porters our number 9 ;)

He hasn't come from nowhere: he's 17 so was [probably] playing U16s last year. His dad played for Napoli at some level so there is some pedigree there.

I wouldn't say that he is the solution to all our problems but he has been scoring goals for fun in the U18s games and has made the step up to the reserves in recent weeks. I can't see the harm in giving someone so obviously highly rated - why else would a 17 year old signing a pro contract make the national press, regardless of the veracity of the links - a place on the bench.

One final thought: maybe no-one was in for him because he's a sensible lad with sensible parents who feel that the best place for him to develop is at the club he's been with for 10 years?

TBH I have heard about this kid for the past year or so and that he was the next great hope, so he certainly hasn't come from nowhere. This is a huge boost t o the club, I think, especially after Pembo leaving my fear was the Academy might start falling apart. He obviously sees the opportunities of getting games here and experience. No doubt he will move on if he develops as expected, unless of course he, Harry, George and the others can drive us on to the Premiership :-)

He only turned 17 two weeks ago so you're right, he was in the U16s and scoring plenty down there too. We have a few good players in the 16s this year - Gareth Owen and Ioan Evans are both in the Wales setup and Calvert Lewin is a good player too. He's been in the mix for England a couple of times.

On DeGirolamo, his dad will have a massive influence on his career. The man absolutely adores his football and knows the game inside out, so he'll definitely know what will be best for his son. It's very rare he's not at the academy watching him.

His dad played for Napoli you say? Well thats me sold, get him in.

Perhaps I'm just an old battered cynic but I remember name after name after name being the next big thing and at 17 they were great. Problem is at 20 they were burned out and washed up. You have to be so careful with these players to feed them in at the right time and play them sparingly.

Wasn't Jordan Slew going to be a bit handy? Didn't Jacob Mellis go to Chelsea?

By the way, of course he has come from nowhere. He is in the Academy of a 3rd division football team. Thats nowhere whether you like it or not.

Mellis is doing a decent job for the dingles at a higher level than we are currently at so I would put him down as one that got away, Chelsea was obviously the wrong move for him and only lead to trouble rather than career development.

Playing Giggs from an early age did man utd no harm. Although you never win anything with kids according to Hansen
