Thats the problem Robbie...it seems our formation is there to accommodate slow, predictable, midfielders...we need some pace and trickery as when our overlapping wind backs and centre backs aren't working (and they haven't yet this season) whats plan B?

How about getting getting more pace, trickery and ability into the team regardless of the box we put them in? It was night and day difference in that second half. They had players with a bit of magic to make something happen. We looked so slow, predictable and ponderous in comparison.

Burke looks quick. I’ve not seen enough of Lowe. Brewster looks like he has pace. It’s our midfield that’s a barren wasteland of anything approaching what Fulham had. I’d not be against sticking Burke in midfield btw.

We should have been out of sight !

We played well I agree, but I don’t think pace or trickery played a part. We deployed the standard operating model and it worked whilst Fulham weren’t ready for it, and our fitness levels held up. The problem is our system has to be near flawless to work, and I maintain we don’t have a player that has that bit of cocky flair to craft something out of nothing. We’re very predictable in our play, which isn’t to say we never have any success with it.

To be honest, I just need to see Wilder trying something, anything with that midfield. You might be right about Burke but honestly if I saw something like Bogle, Burke & Berge in midfield my first reaction would be positive.

We didn’t look at Lookman because when we looked it didn’t look like he’d be any good and so it proved despite his lucky goal.

To be honest, I just need to see Wilder trying something, anything with that midfield. You might be right about Burke but honestly if I saw something like Bogle, Burke & Berge in midfield my first reaction would be positive.

For the next 3 I'd be looking at another reshuffle.

Osborn on the left to disrupt.
Ampadu in the middle to give us some mobility and bite.
Berge on the right because it looks like that's where he belongs in our system.

As for alternatives, Burke certainly isn't the answer. Could Bogle and Lowe play midfield? Maybe. But probably not in a three where they'd be expected to retain the ball & compete physically. But who knows. I haven't seen enough of them to make that call.

I do know that Bogle has a lot in his locker going forwards that we could do with having on the pitch.

Thats ridiculous, we are not in the market for players like James. Lookman however on loan would have been an option

Just the impression I had after the Brewster signing.

Even at £40k a week that’s roughly £1.4M over the season, that’s a lot of money to someone without crowds too, especially with some of the fees we’ve paid out alone. Wilder has had some spindoolies to spend, no two ways about it for me.
