According to two BM posters, BT refused to be involved in yesterday's game because he didn't want to be cup-tied

What does that say if true?

Are these the same posters who assured us Beattie would be signing by the end of July? It's just more speculative bollocks.

"My mate was told by a bloke at work whose brother's boss heard it off his sister-in-law's neighbour's builder's uncle's milkman." Must be true then.

His boot weren't back from t'cobblers. Its taken them quite a while to put all't segs on em. Ready Monday...

It's a a rumour buddy, hence it's on the rumour board and you are entitled to believe whatever you wish.

I have my own personal view on the matter

and to think, I had many disbelievers when I said he wouldn't be playing for at least a few weeks ;)

he's within his rights to as he only has a contract with us till mid jan so why should he damage his chance of a move should we chose not to extend it, plus i heard he twisted his ankle in training and was not risked.

we didn't need him yesterday anyway would sooner have him fully fit for next weeks league game and have him and Ched upfront also yesterday was for Speed not for Beattie's return

Wilson said yesterday he'd got a sore calf, which is very understandable given pre season training regime he's going through at the moment.

Can't blame him if he doesn't wantto cup tie himself anyway.

so what if he did refuse to play ? seriously ? we won

We're paying his wages. If fit and selected, he plays. I doubt we're so pathetic that we'd let a player decide such a thing.

I agree Bergen.

He's our player. He's not on loan so he cannot refuse to play.

We can only assume that he was injured, as DW said.

He may very well have it written into his contract not to play cup games. Who knows eh?

I would say its more likely that he simply isn't fit yet, given that he's been no where near the bench so far.

I still think it will be near enough Christmas before we see him start a match.

That may well be correct Bob. But if so, the deal until Jan 15 seems some way too short then imo.

What benefit will the club get taking a month of a 6 week contract to get him fit? Then of course after that he has to play games to get match fit before the club have any chance to reap any reward

For me:

3 month contract on a pay as you play deal

6 weeks to get fit

6 weeks hopefully playing, of which we see him "fully fit" for 4 of those weeks and thereby assessing him fully

Of course the guy then may well f'k off and there's nowt we can do about that. However, in my humble opinion, 6-7 week deal when most of it is all about his fitness and not actually playing, just seems way too short for me.

Just an opinion of course :)

If that's the case i would question the wisdom of signing him in the first place.

Maybe he has flu again?

When's his contract up?

Why? Has it been confimed anywhere that we are paying him weekly?

I would suggest that nobody knows the in's and outs of this deal, and what is going to happen in January.

If we have signed him purely until Jan, and we are paying him weekly that would be a fuck up of epic proportions because the staff know he won't be ready for a good few weeks. Don't forget he's been training with us for 4-6 weeks already, so they knew his fitness prior to the deal. For this reason I would suggest it is highly unlikely to be as straight forward as suggested. The club took weren't in any rush to sign him for the first month, and I'd put forward that maybe this isn't a bog standard fixed term deal.

I think I read somewhere that he's on £5k per week.

If that's true, then nice work if you can get it.

I thought that the transfer deadline which passed last month was the last day that free agents could be registered to play before January. That would explain why a not-quite-fit Beattie was signed and would perhaps explain why he is yet to appear.

My only worry is that JB is being paid to lie on the treatment table.

He could disappear in January having not kicked a ball...

We can't possibly be paying a player who wont be remotely fit for several weeks with a contract expiry of January 15th. Surely the insantity with contracts that has brought us to our knees is a thing of the past?

Let's hope the Beattie effect wasn't present in Saturday's crowd. One of the justifications for getting him was that the increased crowds would cover his wages.

Did they leave him out so it didnt overshadow all the Gary Speed stuff. Didnt need him on Sat but may well do soon
