It is not the sole reason for our slip up tonight.... cue endless threads on missed chances, the Evans foul, aging strike forces, etc. but it just doesn’t work for us, that is all. I can’t remember a heroic victory where we spent the last 5 minutes in the corner. I’m not saying send the goalie up, but we had a corner with 10 mins to go and we played it to Clayton to try and spend 8 mins in the corner. All it does is give the oppo a breather and get them ready for the final push.

Oh well, 6 games to go ... sun is out, so off to work after my 4.45am start. Gonna be a long day!

Under Warnock we’d be 2-0 up after one of 19 strikers got the 2nd. Then we’d send 2 or 3 into the corner. Not leave one man scrapping against 3. Besides, I genuinely can’t remember (may be age) us playing hold up in the corner under Warnock. We were more likely to play it long, rugby union style and then battle for the throws.

No, me neither. Keep possession by all means and Donaldson had the chance to make a simple pass but chose to try to fuck about instead, just as he'd done minutes earlier on the other side of the pitch and lost it then too.

I agree it should not be part of our make up and I hope CW lets them know that.

Really poor from so many perspectives- if we want to run the clock down - keep the ball.... send it back across the defensive line, run it up the wings and repeat. Standing in the corner is only going to result in losing possession- looks shite as well

I personally think it's shit. We did so well earlier in the game keeping possession across the midfield / defence, so why run in into a corner and pull 3 of our players there. Left us horribly out of shape, ready for them to hoof it long. It can also only result in a few options, none of which look good. A free kick, corner or throw in - we play it short and carry on. OR they manage to win the ball and lump it long. Shit tactic.

Think the fact The first attempt Donaldson made ended with him on his arse shows it’s a worthy tactic problem is we tried it again from the free kick. Possession is a much better tactic holding it in the corner usually results in a throwing to the opposition when they get a toe in and play it off your foot

You’re confusing trying to run the clock down while the ball is in play with diving, feigning injury and trying to stop the ball being in play at all.

We'd had them chasing shadows for 85 mins, so why the fuck do we start taking it in the corner? If we'd stuck to the same style of play, we'd have kept the ball off them for far longer and comfortably taken the three points.

I wouldn't mind but we're shit at holding it in the corner anyway
