Devlin nears Walsall deal
By Mark Buckingham - Created on 7 Jan 2006
Paul Devlin is aiming to tie up a move to Walsall after being told he can leave Watford.
The veteran winger has been given permission to exit Vicarage Road on a free transfer during the January window.
The Hornets' recent loan signing of Manchester United youngster Chris Eagles has prompted manager Adrian Boothroyd to sanction Devlin's exit.
The former Scotland international is now discussing a deal with Walsall, which is likely to go through early next week.
Devlin was born in Birmingham and the 33-year-old admits he is keen to return to his roots.
He said: "I want to return to the West Midlands with my family."
S64 Blade said:Yeah they are. He isn't great now from what i can gather, so i doubt a Championship side would be looking at him really.
Shame he left us really, i remember him been a great player on that right wing.
