That article makes some people on this thread look very very silly.

I'm afraid some people on this board are very silly. Just look at that thread about "McCabe has to go". Not just the OP of that thread, but several others, were jumping on this bandwagon and blaming McCabe and the Prince, for not backing Wilder.

I responded on that post to say, "you are making the assumption that these deals didn't happen because of money" and pointed out that the reason they didn't go through was not entirely down to that. And this is before any of us saw that rather excellent Bleacher report. And no, I didn't have any inside knowledge, it's just common bloody sense. But not everyone has a lot of that do they? And some "fans" I think mean well, but they react like little children that have had a toy taken off them if things don't go as they like. They stamp their feet, and scream and shout, and want to lash out and blame someone for it. You can see who they are just by going back to the "McCabe has to go" thread. The sad thing is, it's not just about this one thing. The same folks will be back on here the first time we lose a match or play poorly or miss out on a player or sell a player, whatever. The moment something disturbs their delicate sense of equilibrium they will tilt at something or someone. It's totally petulant, ill thought through and rather entertaining at the same time. :)

So seems like you were well wide of the mark about them turning down a mil and the sun journo was right all along.

Just imagine my shock.

Yes well wide of the mark, considering they did ask for £1.2m ;)

Seeing as you wouldn't have offered £1m yourself can we now agree that your hysterics yesterday weren't necessary? :)

Edit: For balance I should also add that there's no mention of them actually rejecting any of our offers, so it seems the Sun journo might not have been so correct

Fancy boiled eggs this morning now, but will they haunt me at the posh wedding I'm heading to in Manchester later!!??
Standing at the bar could be risky........

Go for it,then later remember to fart and move, keeping a straight face and pretending to be as outraged as every one else

I'm more in the "loud n proud" camp usually though pal, it's our gerts family, so it's no real detriment if some get upset, I'm more concerned about the taste difference to a £6.40p pint!!!!!!!.......

We have 5 gift bags of wine, but I'm struggling with the cases of Peroni and Kronenbourg, were staying at a different hotel so it makes it harder. And the car has to be miles away as it's Manchester city centre!!! How fucking inconsiderate!!!
On the plus side, I shall be dining with the chairman of our Ladies side this afternoon, so atleast i can have a normal conversation, thats not about clothes, holidays or fucking GOLF!!

No I wouldn't pay it
Maybe other clubs and managers don't act like ours, even those that once managed us don't seem to once they leave, so I think taking the moral high ground suits the club down to the ground

Somebody take the fucking shovel off him.

Wine bags. Posh do then?

:)

Ok. Why did a deal fall through at the agent stage when the club allegedly accepted our offer ?
One reason and one reason only
MONEY !!!!!

No other reason for it when it comes to the agent

Read the Bleachers Report. Makes all of your opinions look daft.

Unless of course it's all staged, an MGM production, McCabe Grabbing Money.

I'm staggered any deals ever get done with these naught, nasty agents...maybe we should ask Birmingham ?

Have you read the article, FriethNon-Blade?

Do you really think we should apopt the bent cockney wideboy as a role novel?

Nice one, did think the pork accusation had merit after that quote.

There's no 'nice one' about it. Why is the board fair game, but not managers, players or fans? There can, and has been, and continues to be, useless articles and idiots amongst all those categories. The latter is particularly prevalent at the moment.

Be careful with your libellous comments pinchymccabesbum

Yes I did read the article and it was excellent but had a touch of Laurel and Hardy about it don't you think ?

Blaming agents is quite frankly ridiculous as every player has one so unfortunately clubs have to deal with them. It's how you deal with them and when you deal with them that matters. It also seems one of the main reasons we wanted Cole originally was because he was free then we got the hump when the fee went to 500k !

I've said elsewhere that I think we've had a pretty decent window. The championship investment didn't materialise but I don't think anyone really thought it would. We've made money on fees in total and cleared Brayford off the wage bill. But I'm still worried our board don't have the financial wherewithal to compete in this new era.

Apart from worrying, what do you suggest we do?

No, I don't think there was a semblance of Laurel and Hardy.

Citing Birmingham as a role model? Bent 'Arry and his dog don't impress me I'm afraid. Still, anything to undermine the club you risibly claim to support, eh?

No, he started off as a free transfer, and as the day wore on, the price went up
What would you take from this though, Grapps? No fee gets mentioned after this pal.
9:39 p.m.

Shieber is constantly on his phone now. He paces the corridors, occasionally breaking off to speak with Wilder, Mitchell or Knill. "Devante is no further forward," he says. But in the parlance of the day, it is "not dead." It could be a loan until January, and Fleetwood appear keen to get it over the line. "I'm getting the paperwork prepared now."

What I don't understand is why Fleetwood would have ever considered letting him go on a free in the first place? Young striker with 4 goals in 3 games; what club in their right mind would tell a club a division higher that he can go for nothing? Bizarre.

Whats the betting on him being our signing in the Jan transfer window?

Would have to read it all again (or watch it) to be honest Wiz, just to make sure I understand the flow of it all

Have the dancing Uncles troupe arrived?
God I was fucked last night, free Peroni all day, I also remember vaguely doing shots of ameretto and Bailey's, I slept pretty well and the all you can eat breakfast, 2 mugs of tea and 2 large banana, pineapple and mango smoothies, coupled with an hours walk round, have proper sorted me out. I've just got home from a rainy Manchester and I'm about to get comfy ready for the obligatory "doing fuck all Sunday afternoon" I've planned, with the F1 highlights on.

I did find that odd too....but it was the agent and player who told United that. So makes you wonder if that was the agent getting the interest in first, then playing games.
But to go free.....to £1.2milion...weird.

The suspicious mind of mine says to me that the "fee" would have ended up going to the agent. I reckon he knew exactly what Fleetwood wanted, and raised it up to try it on. Soon dropped dramatically when it was obvious that wasn't happening. Anything over a certain amount and he takes a big slice.

I wouldn't put over much brass on it given Tufty's comments / observations

I don't think we have any grievance with the lad. He clearly wants to join us and if we go in again with January both he and United will be much the wiser. My guess is his relationship with Fleetwood will be very strained from now on. Watch out for a transfer request next time.

Of course, much depends on him maintaining his form. We will have other targets, no doubt.
