So you do or you don't agree with Wilder in that Cole wasn't worth what Fleetwood wanted? How much would you have been happy to pay by the way?

Wilder doesn't do the negotiating, I'd have thought that was obvious, but do you really think he doesn't have some input towards how much we spend on each player? He's even eluded to this fact himself.

The names you came up with seem like decent options though can't say I know much about them. What are their attributes?

He's not worth a million but considering they paid under 100k for him I'd be very surprised if they didn't snatch our hand off at half a mil.

He'll have an input but do you really think he'd cut his nose off to spite his face? We NEEDED pace, we needed to pay what Fleetwood wanted within reason if he was our main target.

They're quick. They've got goals in them, championship experience, can stretch defences and make openings which Billy could exploit.
I can't believe Bolton have got Armstrong and Burton have got Mason when both would improve us even now tenfold.

Was he our main target though? Someone has mentioned on here that Wilder said Donaldson was the main target (I've no seen the interview).

Joe Mason has a goal ratio of a goal every 4.3 games. That's less than both Donaldson and James Hanson.

By all accounts, Devante Cole isn't a particularly good player. I think the fact that he's a fast black man got us overly excited.

Maybe he'll score 15 by January though and get sold to QPR for 4.5 million, who the fuck knows.

In the meantime, we've got a proven striker at this level to tide us over.

You are not going to stop me being both angry and outraged,we got all that money from the sell ons and McCabe has spent it on a new home in Bermuda,rather than give CW the backing that would have made us play off contenders.

We should have paid whatever Fleetwood,Blackburn and Southend wanted,relegation looms large

Joe Mason has played the majority of his career in the championship fella, James Hanson was a brick layer till about 23.

By the way, you can't use the argument that he would be full of goals if he didn't play at such a high level. Either he is full of goals or he isn't and his record suggests that you are very much incorrect on that front.

The offer might have been accepted by Fleetwood, but it broke down when the agent told us what he expected Cole to be paid.
If he keeps his form up he will get what he wants at another Championship club, won't matter to him having to wait another four months when a proper club comes along and pays him a proper wage

Ok. Why did a deal fall through at the agent stage when the club allegedly accepted our offer ?

MONEY !!!!!

No other reason for it when it comes to the agent
