Dont think it will be dormant and and no movement on the CB front , bearing in mind the new season is fast approaching . He may already have 1 or 2 CB lined up , who may know each other and played together before . We are getting close to the wire for preseason friendlies for bedding them in , and don't want a strangers in the night issue , at kick off.

UTB

Think he gave a clue in his first interview that he has been closely looking at us and what we might need, he said "obviously we've got our own ideas already cos we've been watching over the last 5 months ... err ... a lot of football". He also said "30% of goals come from set plays, you've got to be big enough and bold enough to be able to deal with them - defensively and offensively" so reckon he will do summat about the lack of height in the team as well.

Over in S6 the old, rusting hulk - HMS Tuna - is drifting with no manager in place after 3 weeks.

Thats that lot in the higher division? I bet they are looking over their shoulders worrying about what we are doing. Oh hang on no they aren't they are more bothered about themselves, which is what we should be doing.

I really don't see the panic to have to buy someone before 1st July. Let Adkins at least start assessing the squad he has before we go into a public meltdown over who we should sign and when.

If I were Adkins I would say nothing and do all my deals in the background letting actions speak.

I like 100% Mike. He's a expert, trolltastic cunt to the degeneration that live their lives on twatter.
I have to agree (apart from the c*nt part)...I have seen this guy pop up a few times on Twitter....he claims to have a source but literally anybody could do what he does....he jumps on to second hand information then claims his source has told him. It's quite entertaining really.

Mike gives us first hand information before the media!

I cant fathom the vitriol against Mike Stephenson. Ok, he's told some white porkies to cover his tracks but who hasn't in Internet land?

Mike's chucked a lot of coconuts and eventually he won a goldfish when Adkins was appointed. Fair play, and while he hedged his bets on it being Robinson he was always adament that it was never going to be Phil Parkinson, despite what the odds said. And then latterly with Mark Cooper.

Recently he seems sure that Billy Sharp is joining and Matt Done is going nowhere, so let's see.

At least the lad entertains and isn't shy at volunteering an opinion, albeit far too voiceferously at times. He was though one of the first to turn on Clough when many elected to sit on the fence and, you have to say, his frustrations were on the money.

He needs to chill though and mind his language on Twitter. For a Dad, or anyone, it can be disgusting on occasion and I've unfollowed him previously for that reason.I dread to think how long it will take him to turn on Adkins.

Why are people so desperate I think the majority of our squad is good enough & bar 3cbs cany think of any more id want & we've got 6 weeks

Something to talk about. Since we appointed NA nowt has happened, apart from getting a scout. There's only so much can be said about Coutts, Monty and Billy.

Adkins is right to look at the players he has. Just remember what Clough did when he was appointed? He saw two players who were unimpressive, had a word with both, and from that moment on Flynn and especially Murphy have performed consistently well. I'm not suggesting anything as fruitful as that will happen (although if that should happen I'll be delighted), Adkins needs to look at his squad and quickly assess where we can improve. I know posters on here realise the need for defensive strengthening, but Adkins does need to satisfy himself that he's going to arrive at the correct decisions for the season ahead.

Flynn and Murphy have far from performed consistently well.

Doff my cap, you're correct, but I suppose what I should have said is that Flynn and Murphy went from poor to playing to a standard that neither suggested they were capable of. Yes, consistently suggests a high percentage of games, whereas that probably applies to most of our squad. Murphy is now a player in demand, and that would never have been considered possible at one point, says something about the level he's capable of playing at and why his name crops up in various threads.

Consistent wingers are rarely found in L1, like defensive midfielders who have a range of passing or a big striker who's also good with his feet.

Those 2 gems are right out of left field :)

I don't think there's a new manager in history that hasn't brought in at least 1 or 2 familiar faces immediately and I don't expect NA will be any different. Whether they will be key players remains to be seen but there will be at least a couple who will be in fairly quickly regardless of what we already have I would imagine.

Patience people :)

It wasn't done a short time ago. Not sure if it is or not now.

Previously he wouldn't drop to this level, I'd imagine time has changed that to not dropping to a certain level in terms of wages instead.
Oh dear.
Is it really a possibility?

I just can't see it going well for either party. He is no where near the player he was when he wasn't with us and I fear that a third term will prove once again that he will fail to attain the levels he so desperately wants.

I really hope we don't sign Billy as he has no pace and getting slower all the time. If Billy is the type of player Adkins is betting this new season on then all I can see is a two year rebuilding programme and a sixth season on Division 3 - how fucking embarrassing will that be? 5 is already unforgivable but 6?
Strewth.

Agree with that. Billy is not the answer and it'd worry me slightly about the quality of players NA thinks is capable of promotion from this league if we signed him. We already have a fantastic first choice striker in Done and a great back-up in McNulty we just need someone to complement Done for a consistent and quality front two paring, and that somebody isn't Sharp in my eyes.
