Indeed, the Baseball Ground was a disaster area for many years. When Deano headed a late equaliser to get our first point back in the top flight in 90 that was the first time in NINE visits that I hadn't seen us lose. That's by far my worst run on any ground.

Blimey!

Those 9 games would be, I reckon,

22/11/86 L0-2
20/12/75 L2-3 (Woodward 2)
24/8/74 L0-2
13/4/74 L1-4 (Woodward)
28/10/72 L1-2 (Currie)
20/11/71 L0-3
4/8/70 L0-1 (Watney Cup)
24/1/70 L0-3 (FA Cup)
7/4/69 L0-1

And only 4 goals scored ...

I did 8 straight defeats (so take out the Watney Cup game).

Worst game was the 3-0 FA Cup disaster as the place was rammed and I didn't get to see Jack shit until into the second half (I was only 11). I know it can't be the case but it seemed that John O'Hare scored in every game!
We only scored the four goals but they were all screamers.

You can see why that Boro team won back to back promotions. A team with Cooper, Pallister, Mowbray, Ripley, Kernaghan and Slaven in it was a good side by division 2 standards.

We were poor in that game, and the less said about the return match, the better.

We were packed on the terrace under the stand, along the touchline, it was mayhem for most of the game with the police struggling to keep the fans apart. The only consolation was when were trying to get out at the end they put the other FA Cup results on the scoreboard. ......Sheffield Wednesday 1 Scunthorpe (4th Division) 2

That was the first and only time I ever went to the Baseball Ground....orrible place

I remember the 2nd time I went to Derby the trainload of unitedites charged the exit gate busting it open and the copper on the other side arms outstretch trying to halt the hoards pouring into the ground for free.
