Derby fans a disgrace

In general, I think well of people. I firmly believe you can think of a very offensive chant. Let your imagination go. Think very bad words, about what someone might do to someone else, how many times & with what implements. (still giggling if I'm honest). Are you saying you wouldn't object to any chant your wild imagination might come up with? Just - don't sing it then .... simples

For the avoidance of doubt. I do not think anyone who sang "you Black Bastard" on the Shoreham back in the day murdered Stephen Lawrence. But I think there's a link.
Similarly I do not think anyone who sang "shag your women" on the Shoreham last week murdered Sabina Nessa. But I think there's a link.

Regards links do you think there's a link between booing a national anthem and xenophobia?

Just curious.

You certainly are a giggler. Who would have thought it?

It's an attitude of toxic masculinity. The implication is that the wives won't really have a say in the matter.

It's not a song about rape but it's a song about taking what you want. You being a 'Shoreham Boy' , you're 'drinking' their beer, you're 'shagging' their wives. Both are 'taking' something. It's like something from the '70s and I'm surprised any women want to be in the middle of that kind of 'Neanderthal' atmosphere.

It's one step below 'he'll shag who he want to' and sung by largely the same people...
Taking 'something' you want, against the will of the other person is rape.
I don't think your assumption the women have been shagged against their will (that's rape) is the meaning. If it was your previous comments stand as correct.
Going to another town and the women shagging blades instead of the locals is what it is about. Very very different things.

The worst of the chants and general 'bantz' are not funny and just serve to engender or reaffirm casual misogyny for some in the crowd. I don't want football to be a safe place for bigotry of any stripe. I do want it to be a safe place for women, kids and people of any race or sexual orientation who love football and want to support their club. UTB.

Can't be bothered to read all this thread to see if anyone has said what Derby fans were singing but I can confirm there were 3 songs. One was the "she said no Billy, she said no" song. One was thr sex offender song, and one was calling him a paedo.

In your definition of the song, can you explain why the women of the other town prefer to shag Blades rather than the locals?

They've seen me
Thanks. Do you mean it's to do with being handsome in a conventional sense? Tall, muscular, well groomed, that sort of thing? Or might it have something to do with material things? Better car? Well fitting trousers? A phone that takes photos? I mean up until page 5, I thought the song was essentially about rape. But, now it's been BladesPlained to me, I might as well know the exact interpretation I'm putting on it when I belt it out at Middlesbrough.

I'm from Killamarah and spent the first 33 years of my life there.

My family history is boring in that a number of previous generations all hailed from Killamarsh going back a seriously long time.

Due to that and a family member's job I know exactly what happened and it's even more heinous than reported.

The Derby songs about Billy today were fucking pathetic but anyone linking the two today seriously needs to fuck off.

It's not a great song far from it. What Derby and United have sung is wrong. I don't get your point either. You asked why do women of other towns prefer to shag blades.
It's a joke anyway I might have made a silly joke, no more than that

Crap chant but I work with 2 Derby fans who have messaged me straight away and are as upset as us about the chant. We talked about the match after and they were thought they did enough for a point.
Let's not tar them all with the same brush.

At least some of the Derby fans have called it out. Totally out of no where all those chants and uncalled for.

Fair warning to all. I'm in the "lucky" position of being able to monetise my Twitter feed, Blog and occasional Fanzine article and live off the proceeds. I write about a totally fictitious parody football gang called the Carrier Bag Firm. I get a lot of ideas from this forum. And, I'm pretty sure I'm going to work up a Parody Piece around the "shag your women" song really being about female empowerment & women exercising their choice in sexual partners. Maybe try & draw out some hidden messages in the other lyrics as well. That sort of thing. Too good an opportunity to miss. Absolute GOLD.
Anyone who prefers not to be identified had better say so.

Lucky you, Mr internet money bags.
As demonstrated throughout here, you don't understand, and are determined not to understand what anybody is saying on this thread, particularly your last post that sounded like a typical thug in a 'did you spill my pint' mode.
You've come in this thread, banging on about male violence, and from what I've seen, have no idea about listening to other people, and just seem hell bent on shouting your opinion and looking for trouble.
Preaching to other people about how 'other' men behave is a pathetic joke (if it were funny).
Very small Ignore list goes up by one.

Wtf was their beef with Billy? So glad he shut them up at the end wank fans wank club hope they get wound up coz WE GOT BILLY SHARP BILLY SHARP WE GOT BILLY SHARP
I walked past them earlier and they were singing...

'We are Derby
We're on a bender.
Billy Sharp
Is a sex offender.'
I think it was started by Newcastle fans who when they played Man Utd recently for Ronaldos 2nd debut, were singing ‘The Geordie boys are on a bender, Ronaldo is a sex offender’ or similar

The combined original creative genius of football fans have led to several adaptations in grounds up and down the country, including ours. 🙄
I've just posted on the other thread that I heard some lads singing this.

No need.

My issue with this misogyny stuff is the rank hypocrisy amongst fans and people on here.

I used to live close to a very famous former player and my wife knows an ex wife of one our most famous fans.

If I posted a few facts on here then I'd guarantee some would get very upset about it and I'm certain the thread would get pulled because it wouldn't be wanted.

Can't overestimate the appeal of a pair of well fitting trousers.

'Carrier Bag Firm?' Who would have thought my popping out to Lidls would have inspired the next Charles Dickens.

No one did that. It was a reply to a post moaning that not being able to sing a song which degrades women is a case of the world going soft, PC gone mad, and all that shite that idiots say when they’re told something is no longer acceptable.
The point behind it, insensitively made, is that there is a link between that historically toxic view and violence towards women, which is leading to them being beaten and killed by men if they dislike or disagree with something.
I could have used Sabina Nessa, but the perpetrator hasn’t been found yet, or one of the other 200 women killed recently by men.
I’ve asked for the paragraph to be removed in case someone close to the family is on here and my comments weren’t intended to upset them directly but to show the hypocrisy in defending those normalised views.

Despite what some on here are trying to claim, those lines are about conquest and ownership of women by men akin to beer. It’s shite and shouldn’t be sung and challenging these things isn’t a case of the world going soft.

Clearly I don't believe everyone joining in chants such as 'shag your women' is an evil misogynist on the cusp of committing an act of violence against women; 10 years ago I used to join in as well. But that's no justification for not reflecting and changing our behaviour.

I believe large numbers chanting these kind of lyrics does have the following impacts:
a) It encourages and gives justification to those with misogynist views and violent tendencies in a way that increases the chances of them being violent to women. I know of a particular case of rape where the rapist continues to see his actions as 'normal'; due in no small part to the (perceived) attitudes of his peers and the 'banter' on their whatsapp group.
b) It makes it more difficult for (predominantly) young women to stand up to behaviour that makes them feel uncomfortable/unsafe as it sets the impression that this kind of behaviour is normal
c) Creates an atmosphere where many women may feel uncomfortable about following United

I think, on balance, I'm prepared to take the accusation that we've 'gone soft' on the chin in comparison.

Shit chant, offensive chant. We can make explanations or excuses as to why some carry on with it, on the ale, in a crowd, bit of banter, etc.

The scrotes carried on online though, after the game. That's targeted abuse, and is disgusting.

I hope they go bust.

Cos we're all well-dressed handsome devils with charm oozing out our pores, obviously. The song isn't about rape or sexual assault of any kind. It's about lads on a weekend away getting with the local talent. This is a completely normal thing done up and down the country (and the world). Why do radical liberals have to ruin everything these days? (Said as a socialist who believes in social justice but not nonsense.)
