The new DEM Blades fanzine will be posted out on 9 December 2019. We’ve worked hard to create something a little ‘different’ this time, and so we have come up with our first stickerbook edition.

You can pre-order here: https://demblades.bigcartel.com/

It’s a fanzine that is more inspired by the wonky sticker stuck by the shaky hand, than any polished paninification. The frontispiece is a blank canvass, leaving you to create your own Bladey constellation on the cover. And - the words! - the fanzine itself comprises almost 25k words – it is almost exactly half the length of Ray Bradbury’s Fahrenheit 451 (I’ll leave it up to you to judge whether it’s half as good).

Here’s a rough and ready film to demonstrate the sorts of stickers we’re talking about:

Finally I want to get more people from this forum involved. There’s a growing number of active posters on S24SU who work on the fanzine, which I’m dead chuffed about. I haven’t asked if I can name-check all of them, but I’m sure Ball_Sup (Phil) Roygbiv and Deadbat won’t mind me bigging up their superb efforts on this edition. (Other folk, feel free to out yourselves.) Encouraging people to get involved in the fanzine is what underpins our efforts, so please do stick your oar in... email [email protected].

I've just realised that I have said all of this without mentioning our news...
Dem Blades has been shortlisted as ‘Fanzine of the Year’ by the FSA. We’ll be off to the Tower of London on 16 December for the awards ceremony. And as the sole representative of SUFC at the awards, we promise to invigorate the #SheffieldUnitedAreADisgrace message.

Hope you can find it in your hearts and wallets to buy a copy – if you’re looking to buy a few (Xmas is only around the corner after all), then you can get £5 off 3+ items with the code 2EARLY4XMAS.

Thanks and UTB.

PS. Big thanks to everyone I saw before the Man United game, and especially to those who asked me ‘You’re not Steve off the forum though are you.’

PPS. Yes, this issue is included in your subscription

Fuck me. Poor lad, looks like something out of Scooby Doo!

Congratulations on the nomination, a hearty well done to all involved, hopefully an early Christmas present for you!?

Haha. I know - I enjoy how bad it is though.

Hope it's a brilliant early xmas present! The nomination itself is fabulous stocking filler.

I look forward to the postperson delivering my copy. So far it's been excellent.

Cheers mate. Glad to hear you think so.

Do we need to buy glue ?

Apologies, just watched the video, no glue or tongues required.

No glue. But advanced warning: the stickers are properly sticky. Vinyl stickers that do stick. There's no pulling these back off to realign them, you have to take care. Remember I warned you.

Can you do one with league tables and pull out team tabs for each league like you use to get in comics like Shoot and Striker...
but you have to cut them out your self..........

Watching Grandstand for the scores to come in on the old teleprinter on the tv in the seventies and moving the tabs up and down for each team in the league.....
shouldn't worry about one for the porky snorkies though...they might not be in it next year....

Looks fantastic, good job!
I've just bought two, one for meself and another for what will be an excellent xmas present.
Can I stick them myself or do I need a grownup to help me?I only ask as a troublesome sticking of Mick Mills in the Panini 1978 album resulted in a choking incident.
I still have nightmares...

Find me a picture and we'll seriously consider something like it.

Nice one Sir. From experience, you'll need a grown up. Or at least a steady hand. Not sure how it becomes a choking incident?

Our encounter in The Stag was a bit different. You asked me if I was Pinchy. I was so in shock, I coughed up a fiver, when Flashing Blade’s only £1 :)

Hahaha. I'm still convinced that you are. Trigger Blade is just an elaborate cover.

There's 22k words in our last zine, that's a slight difference between us and Flashing Blade (and £4).

I like the way my laptop looks these days

Are these still being written??

Hi mate. I speak as a contributor not an editer. Yes they are. Like lots of things, Covid has thrown a spanner in the works. And, once Wilder was binned, Dem Blades immediately switched to producing a Wilder Edition. (I've not read it, but I'm guessing it's a cross between a book of condolences & The Death Gazette - all balanced by my contribution no doubt). And another edition, The International Edition, was more or less at the printers before then. I've not seen the production/distribution schedule recently, but the Fanzine is alive & about to be kicking.

There's a superb piece destined for The International Edition about that time United played a Country who had declared War on Britain the week before, great times.
