why when we defend free kicks do we have everyone back? Surely if we leave one up front they have 2 back. Also why do we defend so deep all the time

three up the pitch would drag 4/5 of theirs back

Obviously there has to be a 'tipping point' (I.m sure Bergen will tell us) of how many you can realistically leave up, but FFS it's been obvious for years that you leave AT LEAST ONE up when you're defending a corner - probably Quinn as his height isn't going to be effective at the back.

Still what do we know that these highly-paid managers with their 'badges' dont?

Agree with you, I'd always leave at least one player up front, preferably a quick one that could help us counter attack. Against the pigs I suggested we left three players forward to reduce the number of giants they could push forward for set pieces.

On the basis that Carlisle didnt have one shot on target, but we only scored one when we should have scored 8, im more concerned with our attack than our defence.

Its happened all season no outlet from set pieces. I always thought everyone did it seems im wrong. Again

8? Normal effectivity is taking one out of 3 to 4 chances. Did we create between 24-32 chances today?

Off the top of my head.

1. Williamsons shot gets pushe onto bar in opening minutes
2. We scored
3. Quinn shoould have scoored
4. Cresswell missed penalty
5. Quinn should have scored again but squared instead of shooting
6. we broke numorous times and outnumbered them.

There, 6 off the top of my semi intoxicated brain. And what the hell is your ridiclous comment about anyway? Are you suggesting teams that score 3 require 24 chances? My understanding is they would require 3.

This was a big issue when Robson was here. However I believe Manure never leave a man up. Also we have nobody with pace to keep up top which is the reason some people do it

That might be ok in the lower leagues in the Premiership you wouldn't be in it for long with 3 goals every 24 chances.

he's suggesting a team that scores 3 usually have between 9 and 12 chances per match.

Man U can do that as they have pace all over the team so can counter attack effectively. When you have little to no pace it would be extremely difficult to go on the attack from your own 18 yard box.

i beleive mourinho used to do it at chelsea(leave 3 up at corners ) but this was based on having an aerialy dominant keeper and we dont have that
