Just read this in the Star

‘Shaun Barker is expected to be invited to train at the Redtooth Academy when United reconvene next month after leaving Derby County. Barker has entered the final phase of his recovery from injury’

http://www.thestar.co.uk/sport/shef...lough-confirms-his-transfer-targets-1-7259079

And people still want this prat in charge of the club? Really? I mean Really?

Just read that he's not played a competitive fixture since 2012!! Of course, if he turns out to sign for us, then I'll support him as I do other Blades players but come on Cloughie... surely we want to be looking at better than this.

So in your world we should just fuck Brayford off ,after all he has played in Derby reserves and IS injured. Players do recover from injury you know ,virtually every player in the league has been injured at some time.
As it happens I would go for Eustace as well ,just the kind of leaders we need at our club to progress.

I'm pretty sure he did some rehab at the academy towards the end of the season. Doesn't necessarily mean we are going to sign him.

If he can prove some form of fitness and get some pre-season games under his belt I can't see why we shouldn't put an offer on the table, albeit with caveats for his recent injury problems. He's an experienced leader, exactly what we've lacked.

Just looks like a "try before you buy" arrangement to me.

Eminently sensible.

Have a look and if you like what you see make an offer. Clough already knows his character and how he will fit in with the rest of the squad.

It's a no cost, no risk, no lose situation for us.

I suppose the complainers would have told him to buzz off and find somebody else to train with and if he's made a good recovery they can have him with our best wishes?

I mean it's not like we have space for 3 or 4 new centre backs is it?

"He'll learn from his mistakes"

Do let me know when you've had a think about the 9 players won't you. Keep those knees jerking. You too, Jon Bon. Let's not miss any opportunities, however contrived, to further the agenda.

Misery, I'd dearly like to tell you exactly what I think of your #s but my pithy shorthand, ideal to describe the likes of you, is no longer permitted.

So if Chelsea offered us Diego Costa ?

Be realistic when defending this signing. To be fair, what we should be looking at is his overall injury record before this bad injury. If this is his only bad injury then it could be worth a punt. If not we need to spend some money

Hey Pinchy with all these rumours about height and strength I heard that Clough was interviewing for a new club Blacksmith
What you think of that?

No. It's just that in my world, there are more potential signings out there than just Derby reserves.

So if Chelsea offered us Diego Costa ?

So in your world, is that really likely to happen? Huh?

"United intend to change their playing style following the midweek play-off semi-final exit against Swindon"

Is that an admission the current style is wrong?

I'm firmly in the "Clough out" group of fans, but if this is a try before you buy type of thing I'm happy enough with that. If Barker gets his fitness back, he is exactly the type of player we are desperate for.

With his injury record, surely no club would offer him anything other than a pay as you play contract, but this is United so anything is possible.

Maybe. If it is, surely it's to be welcomed? Or is it Heads the Agenda wins; Tails the Manager loses?

no crocks or recent crocks please Nigel. Learn the lesson James Wallace and Paul Coutts should have taught you.

Fixed it for you - I reckon a 2 year contract at least. 32 years old not played for nearly 3 years - sounds like Kennedy is in better shape than him. Probably do the first half between them with Basham going back to centre half for the second. And next seasons kit looks like Derby from a distance if we wear the black shorts - perfect Nige.Thank god Brighton are after Ward.

Great decision not to get Holt. Wasn't needed at all, doesn't offer anything different.

I'm fed up of getting players 'Who can do a job'. We need to be clinical - get the right player for the right positions. No stop gaps, no squad fillers, no signings for the sake of it. Just the best quality we can get for the right system/position. No more, no less.

CB x 2, James Wallace fit, Cen Mid x 1, Strikers x 2. Deadwood out (JCR, Alcock, B Davies, McEveley, Doyle, Diego, K Wallace, Higdon). = Wish list.

I love it that the first reaction to any rumour of a signing is "oh, wait 'til Pinchy finds out!"

Spot on Tarquers - Pinchy is the nemesis of everything blinkered and backward looking where the club is concerned, plus whatever else I may have missed out.

Now, I'm just about to pop into Waitrose, it couldn't possibly be a case of..."oh, wait 'til Pinchy finds out!" could it?

"United intend to change their playing style following the midweek play-off semi-final exit against Swindon"
I'll bet my bigger nut that this is lazy journalism. In what reality has Nigel Clough stated to ANYONE "we intend to change our playing style following the midweek play-off semi-final exit against Swindon."?
