DEANO V KELLY....I'd think its probably 50/50 tbh.
Deano would perhaps score 50% of his chances if Kelly was in goal.
UTB.
Alan KELLY
Simon TRACEY
Dean HENDERSON.
Mel REES
Paddy KENNY....ETC ETC.....
It's not hard to work it out is it ? 🤷‍♂️ 🤷‍♂️

Thats very true, the Back Pass rule ruined Tracey!

Remember the poor understanding between Kelly and Roger Nilsen? Derby's 2nd goal straight after the start of the 2nd half in October 1995 also a year later at Norwich when both had a row with each other at a midweek game when a misunderstanding between them almost led to a goal. When Alan Kelly was playing for Blackburn in Sept 2001 against us at the Lane (Friday night) he failed to deal with a backpass, David Kelly pounced in to block his clearance and scored.

Yeah there's always misunderstandings, Kelly was perhaps less erratic

Kelly over Tracey for me.....but I think Deano is better than them both. That trilogy of saves was outstanding yesterday - almost superhuman!

I respectfully disagree. Kelly was more prone to poor games than Tracey (example being Chelsea at home, last game of 1992/3). Tracey made very occasionally clangers (the “brains of a rocking horse” incident being one), but he was remarkably consistent in his shot stopping and cross taking.

Didn't Tracey get a lot of red cards for a 'keeper? I remember hearing that and I can remember two off the top of my head (Portsmouth away and of course the Battle of Bramall Lane) but I've never verified it.

My favourite was always Tom McAllister and I loved Jim Brown who was more my era. However when you look back at clips, time plays tricks. I understand that all you see of goalies is goals conceded, BUT they were not as good as I remember.
Keepers are so much taller and more agile - coaching also gives them a much better understanding of angles and covering space these days. Hodgkinson was one of the first goalkeeping coaches and a lot of that is down to him.
Deano is the most springy, agile shot stopper I’ve seen and he is now quite close to Kelly. To beat him he has to be consistent till the end of the season which is probably, sadly, when ways will part.

He just did what he was paid to do...keep the ball out the net.

😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

Loved Kelly, Trace and now Deano.

Phil Kite wasn't too shabby either

Didsy deserves massive credit as it would have still been a goal without his intervention.

I think we’ve done well for keepers. I saw Tracey’s debut and everything after. For a time he was very special. I was worried when he was out injured but Kelly was great and gave you the conundrum of whether he was actually better. A huge compliment. Kelly was also behind some special moments, the 93 semi was an amazing performance. The Coventry cup semi was great seeing him held aloft by the pitch invading fans.

Kenny was good too. Very good at times.

It’s when you get periods when the likes of Bunn and Simmo filling me with dread that you realise how spoilt we’ve been.

Hendo is brilliant and I’d love him to be our long term keeper but the unit in front of him deserve as much credit as he does for our ten clean sheets. At 22 and improving each season he’s potentially some player.

And that comedy dive at the end was class!
Didsy deserves massive credit as it would have still been a goal without his intervention. = Agree but he played their player on side if Didsy had kept the line they would have been offside
PS I also loved the dive

In my life time, I'd go Kelly > Deano > Tracy > Kenny > Rees. It's close.

Those seasons when we had Howard, Long, Simmo etc just showed how important a confident, reliable keeper is.

I had Kelly miles above the rest for years but this kid is a cocky, talented awesome keeper and he is going to be Englands no.1 for years to come.

Kelly was imperious, made save after save but that double save today was better than anything I have ever seen and I mean ever. Agile, confidence, assurance, performance, Blade.

Praying we are his club and he stays forever.

Was always Kelly for me, just in front of Tracey.

This lad trumps them both. If he sorts his distribution he will play for the very best. Sadly, unless the rumour that we've already agreed a fee is true, I don't think it will be us.

Deano, deffo the best keeper I've seen and I loved Alan Kelly. Trace was decent, particularly in his younger days, but was prone to the odd moment of rashness, a bit like Paddy Kenny for those that didn't see Trace.

Kelly was arguably better at commanding his area, that I remember was Kelly's strength although he was excellent overall, but shot stopping wise there's no better than Hendo. Overall, Hendo the best, Kelly 2nd and I'd say Paddy Kenny 3rd, solely because Trace had more errors in his game than Kenny (who himself had errors as I say!), but Trace was excellent at commanding his area in an era where punching was not commonplace.

When I say Kelly was better at commanding his area than Hendo, its a different approach now than it was in the past, and tbf to Hendo, his decision making on when to punch or when to claim from a cross is impeccable, and who knows how many goals are saved from Hendo preventing an opposition player from heading the cross.

Got to give a mention to Mel Reece too - bless him, we'll never know how good he could have been of course, that was tragic and such a sad loss.

It’s up to Hendo himself if he wants to be, in time, better than Kelly and Tracey.

Kelly wins it hands down for me though. Tracey is second on the list but he’s better than Kelly at writing a bet out. 😁

I don't remember Kelly and Tracey as much but how did we end up with two class keepers at once?
