Davalon cant think of many players who’ve immersed themselves like Deano has. He’s clearly a lad that loves the game and wants others to enjoy it too. He seems to see his profile as an ambassador, like many of the current crop, starting with Billy.

Pretty much, the whole story was:

Fjortoft: I really want one last go at getting in to the Norwegian world cup squad and because Barnsley are in the PL, that gives me the exposure I need.

Deane: I really want to play for Benfica, are you going to deny me that?

As simple as that and the club did right (as they saw it) by each player. Both players also thought the club did right by them. Tough, but to beat the club up over this is unfair.

There are certain players that you just like and Deano is one of them...
