Kevin Davies is the same age as me and I'd have to agree with Robson, Deane and Gascoigne. Absolute legends in my eyes.

Robbo was a poor manager but he was a proper midfielder, good in defence and attack and with a massive engine. Good captain too. Him and Gazza were the best centre midfielders I've seen play for England.

No need to comment on Deano; legend.

Do you have to bang on about cricket all the time?
That's when it was interesting ,with people called Alan Knott and Fred Titmuss. We used to giggle at being able to say Tit. Eminem would have been buggered. After Ian Botham and puberty cricket died.

A lot of cricketers are public schoolboys so it wouldn't surprise me.

Agana was just about the dastest I've seen running with the ball.

For me, coming from a council estate up the road to playing amongst my heroes meant so much me and these are the two I looked up to when I was a teenager.

Come on Kevin, you didn't grow up on a council estate at all, you lived at Kennedy Road, Woodseats, Sheffield 8 - just up the road from me and quite a nice place to live. Even the Fraser council estate nearby was a nice place to live then.

One ex-non-league, one signed from a Division 4 side.

If only we possessed the sort of vision to unearth the gems that still gleam down in the depths in this day & age.

And years before that we unearthed gems such as Mick Jones, Alan Birchenall and Len Badger - well done John Harris

Fraser estate was a posh Jordo.

That's one if the reasons he was the greatest manager for us in my lifetime. Promoted without spending any money. 40k I think Deane cost us. Mad!

...and of course the immortal "The batsman's Holding, the bowler's Willey."
