I was questioned when I first joined due to my username. I was a member on BladesMad and when that went off the boil last summer(ish) I joined here and was subject to scrutiny as soon as I joined!

This is wrong. There’s no doubt in my mind that Wilder’s sense of fairness and playing the game the right way would ensure that this is exactly what we’d do.

No blame from me for Villa or Smith. The error was nothing do do with them, you can’t start asking teams to give back goals for officiating errors.

Two things i don’t understand: (1) Hawkeye say the system couldn’t see the goal. I find that hard to believe unless all seven cameras are in the same place. However i’ve seen comments that the ref said his watch alerted him at half-time that it had been a goal. Surely these statements, if correct, are mutually exclusive. Either the system saw the goal or it didn’t, how could his watch later decide it was a goal when the Hawkeye system hadn’t seen it; and (2) how on earth has VAR not intervened. There must have been at least a minute before the ball went out of play and Villa took the free kick down the other end. By then we’d already seen the replays showing a goal. Either VAR exists to get these decisions correct or it doesn’t.

Once again a complete and utter incompetent shambles in front of the watching world - it’s staggering that in an industry with the vast sums of money involved we’ve still got f***whits throughout the game! I hope it is incompetence because if not there’s a much bigger issue!! Rant over!

If Hawkeye has said that it can miss goals if there are too many players (this has never been said), then all of them would be doubled checked by VAR.

We’ll have to disagree. As far as i’m aware all the tech is there to support the officials not replace them (for now). Yes GLT failed, but based on our reaction at the time why did the ref not ask VAR for their view. Why did the VAR officials not intervene themselves. Neither of those failures is a tech failure, they’re both errors by the officials.
