Which means that the referees were unfairly favoring Sheffield United.
5 goals were scored unfairly, 1 as a result of a handball and 4 were offside.

These were not subjective decisions.
So referees 'helping' the big boys, is clearly a myth.

I smell pork

If you’re interested in challenging your own perception around this, take a look at a psychological phenomenon called ‘Social Impact Theory’. It proposes that the amount of influence an individual experiences in group settings is determined by:
a) Power and social status of the group.
b) Immediacy (physical/psychological distance) of the group
c) Number of people exerting the social influence.

So, when a referee (individual) officiates a match of a historically successful club with some of the best, most expensive and highly paid players, ( a) - power/status) whom are hugely popular ( c) number exerting influence) and incredibly well supported in a large, modern stadium ( b) immediacy of the group / c) number exerting influence) then they are far more likely to follow the influence exerted on them I.e. give decisions in the group’s favour.

This would explain why Man Utd - despite being essentially mid table since Ferguson left - still exert a disproportionate made of influence and are the recipient of favourable decisions.

"This would explain why Man Utd - despite being essentially mid table since Ferguson left"

Please deal with facts, rather than incorrect statements.

If your theory above is correct, why were Sheffield United incorrectly given 5 goals by referees, despite being the least favored club in the league at the start of the season?
(4 offside, 1 handball).

What on earth are you talking about? Man Utd are STILL the recipient of favourable decisions as tracked since Ferguson left - likely in part explained by the theory I outlined.

What has our record with VAR got to do with anything I said? Make sure you aren’t sacrificing too much to try and appear right...

Your record with VAR this season has everything to do with what you said.

The 'referee (individual)' that has officiated matches this season, have awarded more incorrect goals to Sheffield United, than any other side in the league.
At the beginning of the season, Sheffield United were in most predictions to finish bottom of the league. With one of if not the smallest wage budget in the league, and whilst I thoroughly enjoy my trips to Bramall Lane, it's not at this level a 'large, modern stadium'.

So why were Sheffield United benefiting from 'Social Impact' Theory, despite meeting none of the requirements?
