Pay rises will cause further inflation, you're right. When someone from the Bank of England or some politician comes out and says this though, they are criminal in their lack of context.

Inflation started rising. Energy companies were allowed to increase prices dramatically, which caused further inflation. Nobody stepped in to say, "you can't have any more money guys, it's inflationary".

Then landlords jacked up rents, in many cases more than predicted inflation levels. This causes inflation, but again they did this without any drama. Same with food prices, travel costs, etc.

After 10 years of austerity and stagnant wages, the inflation starts to hit the ordinary person. Many people can't cope with the cost of living increase, many children are driven into poverty, others are simply fed up with it and demand a pay rise.

Look who appears, the government! They tell workers that their pay simply can't be increased. Why? Because it will cause inflation. Why the fuck should we be the ones to take the hit, AGAIN. Our demand for higher wages is the necessary, automatic response to the price hikes brought about by rich, greedy cunts who can afford to have their prices capped. We can't.

There are wider implications here. Economic growth (and taxation e.g. vat) is caused largely by working and middle class people spending their disposable income. If you wipe out everyone's disposable income due to the reasons you've outlined you cause an economic crisis. Some famous examples of how to solve this economic disaster are the New Deal (USA), Attlee's post war economics, and, gulp, Hitler's rebuild of Germany after the Weimar Republic. We are at that stage now. Capitalism needs lower earners to have money to survive.

People are now also seeing the failure of the privatisation model - particularly in natural monopolies. These companies/services are taking far too high a percentage of a person's wage to access them. This is fuelling inflation as people don't have money to spend on non essentials.

Further, another point that hasn't been made is the wages of top line staff, which have grown far more quickly than the average worker's real terms salary. It used to be that the highest paid employees salary was no more than ten times the lowest. In many cases it is now many times this. The solution is to rebalance this differential which in turn will reduce inflation and put money in the people's pockets who will boost the economy. The major cause of inflation from wage earners is the top end. We can also talk about the dividend model which allows money to be taken out of companies rather than reinvested in wages. This is another cause of inflation. The last two factors are rarely if ever talked about: it is always the working class that causes inflation 🤣.

"Giving it a go"!, I so hope they get relegated, just imagine their current wage bill, theyve just signed 21!!! Players, 21!, that's ridiculous, an entire new squad!
Looking at things after Bournemouth they do look like relegation fodder. But they have at least invested in the team.

What on earth are you talking g about ? They got battered
The point is the board backed the manager and invested in the team. If it doesn’t work out, (and I don’t think it will), at least they tried it their way. (I think there’s a song on there). Better to go down swinging than give up before a ball is kicked.

I know I am being naïve here, but if everyone paid their fair whack of their tax bill we might be better off.
All this registering non-domicile so that you don’t pay tax in the UK whilst living in the UK and benefiting from schools, NHS etc is theft. As is setting up an off shore company then taking a loan from that company to pay no personal tax.
You live here, you pay your tax at the required rate on ALL your earnings.

Agree, tax monies role is to keep inflation down. If, for whatever reason it's not being collected, then inflation will be the result. Modern monetary theory is very interesting in its explanation of the function of taxation in reducing inflation. When I see these sweetheart deals with huge companies that wreck small business and the high street it boils my piss. Governments have not put legislation in place for non doms or the internet age.

Henderson was on good for us because of the defence he had in front of him. He could have come back to us if he really wanted to. Unfortunately here’s just one of money grabbers in the game and I hope he concedes 3 or more goals a game and Florest get relegated by Christmas.

Well he’s conceded 3 tonight 🤣

Such a massive mistake for him to think he was going to knock De Gea off his throne. I absolutely understood his desire to be a prem keeper and he was a darling to everyone at the time but he's been completely over taken by Rammers now as the young keeper people tend to love. Now he's ended up looking worse by getting pelted every game because of the poor defence he's been stuck behind.

Such a promising career that seems to have dramatically slowed. Still though selected for the England squad so fair play. He needs to fuck off from Forrest ASAP and get to a more established club.

He got a black mark from Bert for leaving 10 minutes before the end.

Could put it down to Paul McGrath style anticipation though. Knew the goal was coming so left before a load of blades had photos of his giving it large against his future employers. Fair play to the lad

Henderson looked very average tonight against Fulham. I'm so pleased we have Wes. Wes is Lev Yashin compared with Henderson.
If we go up we should look to fire a low ball offer in for him. Wes has done well but I just see us looking for a better option if we playing PL football.

He’d have to accept a monumental wage cut. Think he’ll see out his Man U deal going on loan each year then move on a free.

My Dad always sang "Woodward is better than Eusebio" but I think he wasn't yet a regular in the Mick Jones days. I don't know if that version was ever sung at the match though.
I recall the original chant included "Hodgy is better than Yashin" and "Mick Jones is better than Eusebio". After Jones was sold for pittance to Leeds United (£100,000 - he was worth ten times that) it became "Mick Hill is better than Eusebio". First home game after Jones' sale, the kop sang the lament "Michael Jones, Michael Jones, is it true what Harris said you won't come back, oh no, no ..." to the tune of the beautiful 'Grocer Jack - Excerpt From "A Teenage Opera" by Keith West (released 1967). It was very affective. I sat in the John Street stand that season with my dad, just behind the directors' box. When the directors walked to their seats for the start of the game chair Blacow Yates (spelling?), Dick Wragg and others were pelted with pennies from the fans and booed for selling Jones so cheaply.

Well, just conceded 2 quick goals, neither his fault, both shocking defending, but I do love this habit he's developed of throwing himself full length then when the ball flies past him then bouncing on the ground on his stomach whilst pounding his fists in to the turf. I suspect he's going to be doing that a lot this season.
