He will leave man.utd next season and on current form clubs will be queuing round the block

Not a chance in hell he will sign for us permanently. Unfortunately/fortunately he is improving at a rate of knotts, and I get the feeling that if he isn't in Man Utds first team next season then another one of the big boys will come in for him (either here or abroad). He will be England's number 1 within the next 18 months in my opinion.
You mean one of the top 6??

I like him, he's good, and offers a lot more to the team than just his goalkeeping skills.
I just wonder whether we should be setting our sights a bit higher, rather sticking with CW's tactics of recruiting from teams lower down the leagues.....

I think he's a good goalkeeper. He has a bit of a rick in him at times though - let's be clear about that. Considering he's behind the best defence in the country, it's not like he has a lot to do most games. So he needs to watch that tendency to lose concentration - he also needs to go down with his legs shut as well. Anyhow...

I thought Hendo was very good, until I saw De Gea the other week. My God he was impressive. I've only ever seen highlights of him on telly, but having watched him for 90 minutes live now, I think he's up there amongst the best goalkeepers I've ever seen tbh! It wasn't so much the spectacular that he did well, it was everything! Basic positioning, catching, kicking, reflexes, handling. He was lightning fast as well.

Based just on that short glimpse of De Gea, I'd suggest Hendo is absolutely nowhere near that level of goalkeeping, good though he is. That doesn't mean he can't be or won't be one day, but if I were Man Utd it wouldn't even be crossing my mind for one moment about making Hendo the number 1 when they've got De Gea in that position.

That's why I think they will look to move Hendo on in summer. I'm sure they'll have got some other very good young goalkeepers coming through the ranks there - and they'll be prepared to wait and get their chance to be a first team regular, whereas Hendo is of the age and experience now where he needs to be a permanent number 1 somewhere else. And they've been quite smart in allowing Hendo to go out on loan and raise his sale value.

So...£20M for Hendo is what we hear. Is it worth paying that? I'd suggest it is - but it depends how much we've got to spend. Because we need 2 or 3 outfield players as well and I'd put striker/attacking midfielder as a higher priority than goalkeeper. Particularly when we've got decent back up in Moore - and what sounds like a very good, if somewhat unproven back up, in Verrips.

All the more reason, imo, to maybe get Verrips on the bench a bit more, let's have a look at him and see what he can do. Because if money is tight it may be that the £20M Man U want for Hendo could be better spent elsewhere on the team?

I honestly don't see Henderson getting a chance at Man U at all. DDG just signed a massive deal that I doubt any other team in the world would take on. Playing full time at Sheffield U will get him noticed by Southgate & is his best career choice. 20 mill is cheap !!

Two things - DH would have been pissed off at being behind Burnley's goalie for England's last game and will possibly think a move to a more 'high profile' club than the Blades will help his career and...

...rumours we're looking at Ben Foster.

Agree with most of that CB especially how impressive DdG was last week. Not sure another attacking midfielder is needed though - we have a very capable one in Freeman who can't get a game. Some competition for Norwood and Lundstram is required more IMHO, although if you were inferring to needing more goals from midfield then I totally agree. A right sided equivalent of Fleck would be ideal

The other point I can't agree with is that Moore is of sufficient standard as a back-up. Unfortunately I don't think he is anywhere near that. Of course, coming into the team for one game, especially against Man Utd can't have been easy but I thought he was poor for two of the three goals he conceded and if he was required to play regularly for any reason, I'm convinced he'd cost the team points.

If the (potentially outdated) rumours are true and Henderson is available for £20m then I'd snap Man Utd's hand off the second Utd's survival is confirmed - that could be the best investment HRH has made since he checked Uncle Kev £1 a few years ago :-)

If we paid £30-40m for him I would be happy.

We know exactly what we're getting for our money and he is 22 years old ffs.

For comparison, Joe Hart didn't even start playing regular Prem football until he was 24 and he went on to get 75 England caps.

James Hanson didn’t start playing professional football at any level until he was 22. And he went on to get a flat-cap.
