Henderson is enjoying a stellar season on loan at Sheffield United, and saved a penalty in their 1-0 defeat to Manchester City on Tuesday night.

There's no way that Henderson is going to be their No.1 next season. They made De Gea the highest paid goalkeeper on earth last season for the next 3 years. He almost certainly will not be benched & nobody in world football will take his contract on.

Hendo come back on loan next season & possibly the season afterwards too... Then who knows.

Nothing in that article suggests Hendo has said anything to anyone, and Wilder's interview could easily be the "MEN sources". Yeah, I'd prefer to sign him though with a buy back clause inserted into the deal. To my mind he's 2-3 years away from taking DeGea's jersey and the crazy way Man Utd's run, he'd be a bigger noise on social media signing back for them as Englands No1 in 2023 than them bringing through one of their own for nothing.

I'm guessing this spin is only because the headline "Everyone reasonably happy with Henderson situation" isn't clickbaity enough.

Man U have a player getting experience who wouldn't be a clear first choice for them.
Henderson gets a chance to fight for that first choice slot while playing regular Prem football.
We have a player who's better than what we could've bought outright.

And because of De Gea and Romero's contracts this could well continue even longer.

He's not.

De Gea is one of the best keepers in the world, but maybe currently not 100%on the top of his game. Hendo is a great young prospect, but poor on coming out to claim balls and has mediocre distribution.

It's all academic though, as the MEN is doing their version of the Stir.

Tough ask to displace De Gea but he does have dodgy spells. I admire Hendo's confidence but he has to remember who is up against. Throw in how much of a basketcase of a club Man Utd have been over recent years.

He should have forced a permanent transfer in January. He is better than Forest in my view.

i agree it wouldve been tough as de gea was very good. but i guess when you have personal assurances from the manager. what can you do but have to trust manager
