Leigh Bromby stayed on his feet and consequently the ref didn't give anything even though he knew he'd been caught. Never mind it's not like one extra goal cost us 30 million quid.

McG didn't dive - the Forest defender made it impossible to get in on goal with his "missed" initial attempt (and well done to McG for trying to continue) - if you watch the video it's McG rear leg that catches the defender as he brings it down.

The defender caused McG not to have a clear goal scoring action because of his action - the REF got it spot on.

As for covering players - the 2 Forest defenders were 2 yards behind - that is not covering. The ref got it spot on. What some also need to understand is that the defender wanted to stop McG progress and if it had happened in the area it would have been a penalty and NOT a sending off. He knew exactly what he was doing and didn't get away with it.

Whether or not anyone actually agrees with ALL of the new rules, brought in to stop CYNICAL footballers is immaterial - they ARE the rules and VAR will hopefully stop a lot of the other cynical actions in and around the penalty box. Ban a few players for 3, then 5, then 10 games for repeated offences and it will soon stop.

Spurs are in the semi final of the Champions league because of VAR - that too is there for a reason.

There’s loads of rules that have changed that have passed me by. Ranting and raving one way or another doesn’t solve anything. I believe the six second rule for keepers was brief but many still get apoplectic if it’s exceeded. No footballer will ever put the ball in the zone marked at a corner when taking one. No matter how much folk point. Offside and passages of play baffles me sometimes. All in all I trust the ref to know better than me.

There’s probably a few posters on ‘ere who’ve experienced that sort of tackle where the slightest contact is enough to bring you to ground.
You can clearly tell by the way Didsy went down that it was uncontrolled.

If, like you say, he was clean through on goal (which he was), then there's not a very good argument for it not being a sending off.

Can't have been an easy one to call from the referee's perspective in real time. Fair play to him for making the decision.

So what? Will all refs now take Dean Ashton’s opinion as gospel and never award a foul on McGoldrick? Who gives a shit what Ashton thinks.

Personally I ain’t arsed if he dived or not, we should dive! All teams do it, why put yourself at a disadvantage? The vast majority of fans actually think like that, but just won’t admit it.
