is amazing to think 10 mths ago he couldnt break into our team & then goes onto have a successful season at everton. then this & v mighty Venezuela should be favourites

England U20 have looked very impressive.

Went 1-0 down after 2 minutes against Italy today but dominated the rest of the game and won 3-1. A comprehensive win despite being behind at half time. It's encouraging to see such domination against a nation like Italy. Although carrying it through to senior level is an entirely different matter, as we know.

Individually Lookman, Solanke and Ojo looked brilliant. I also like Tomori at CB who's a great athlete (possible loan signing?).

DCL isn't at the level of those I mentioned but doesn't look out of place, he's very good physically and getting better all the time.

Solanke only cost Liverpool 3m from Chelsea..... looks like he could be a class player.

Without making this yet another thread about england team & PL foreigners. as i said on the shoutbox. i believe there are some players in PL clubs u23s that can easily make step up. the shame with ever increasing % of foreigners in PL every window, players like solanke never get a chance or trusted. it took man utd injury crisis & spurs pissed off with adebayor with no stregth in depth for our 2 biggest striking prospect to get a shot. under normal circumstances they would never got

i was reading a article about domestic percentage in top 5 leagues

LaLiga 57%
Ligue 1 56%
Serie A 48%
Bundesliga 47%
PL 31%

Are there lies the problem with our national game.

Additionally you can blame the ridiculously transfer fees that domestic players attract over their foreign counterparts.

50m for John Stones....

On the BBC website yesterday there was an article about the squad - apparently DCL had a 'loan spell' at Sheffield United. :(

A couple of Toffee work colleagues can't work out why they've bought him, says that he looks like a kid playing against adults. Sounds much like he was at the Lane to me.

DCL and his partner came in my Tesco store a couple of weeks ago!!(woolton). A very posh village on the outskirts of Liverpool!!. A few people were around him getting selfies and autographs!!. I told him that I was a blade and we had a brief chat. He can't believe how his career has suddenly gone up to this level. He still has a soft spot for bdtbl and likes tufty. I just wish he could have broken through to our first team. A top lad in my and other scousers views though.

We're out in Korea watching DCL, Chapman & their colleagues. Beer updates, "tourism" & general bollox on my Twitter & Blog.

I follow you on Twitter and I have to ask, if it's not too personal...

How the fuck do you afford to do what you do?! By the looks of it, you travel to all ends of the earth to watch sport and sample beer. Looks like an amazing life, but it can't be cheap!

For most 19/20 year olds making their way in the game they do tend to look like kids playing against men !!

Its called growing up and maturing into a man. Why do people insist that at 19/20 years old you should be physically ready to play first team football week in week out.
EEL is 23 and only just had his first full season in a first team and look at the size of him.......

TomJonesBlade Mate, no, it's not particularly personal. But, when asked, I do like to turn it 180. I'm 58. What the f*ck are other 58 year olds spending their money on?

Right. I'm an old guy. 58. I was made redundant in 2010. And I haven't worked since then. I was a career Civil Servant. A Government Statistician actually. I moved back to Sheffield in 1993 and worked the next 17 years in Moorfoot. At "The Manpower" as many Sheffielders would say. That wasn't/isn't lucrative. Look I was a bloke who worked in an office. I worked hard. Saved my dough. Paid off my mortgage, Took redundancy. I'm married, but I don't have kids. I've never owned a car. Never had a driving lesson. Never wanted a big house. Live in a flat (nice part of town mind...). And, I've come out the other end. I get a pension & I'm spending my savings. Because I'm going to die eventually.

The maths is simple. You don't earn a fortune as a civil servant. And you retire on a fraction of what you were earning. To be vulgar, my gross, before tax, "income" is £21k. My wife has a phrase when we're abroad doing football, cricket & beer. "Everyone has got to be somewhere". What she means is - if you're spending money on food, drinks, trains, buses & petrol - you might as well be doing that in South Korea as Sheffield. If I spend 7 grand on a 10 week trip, 8 weeks at home, shopping at Aldi puts me on break even. Honestly, I don't quite get why other people don't see it that way. I know that view upsets some people.

I seem to be able to do a lot with not very much - best way I can explain it. Everyone should have a go....

I have not won the Euromillions, nor inherited any money.

Thanks for answering, I couldn't help but be curious.

Must say, I admire your outlook on life!
