I was a fan of Dom when he was here, but even I have been surprised by how quickly he has developed at Everton. Well done lad and to the coaching staff at Goodison.

We do produce some great youngsters just a shame we sell so easily.. All the silly negative comments based on a few games played as a 17-18 year old! But forgetting he's been at the club from 9 years old and been outstanding one of the biggest talents the club has had, words of the coaching staff! It's no coincidence he's now on a plane with the England u20s after scoring first PL goal! He's going to be a big player! Good luck to him and all the SUFC graduates, brilliant to see!

His game is more suitable to premiership style of football than 3rd division ,I am surprised how well he has done as I will admit I didn't rate him. Good luck to him anyway.

ha ha thats crap and you know it! kyle and jags proved themselves and the fans respected them both, kyle took the first team by storm within a few games. dcl looked weaker than your post when he got a sniff of game time. i remember he came on at southend away, did nowt and most fans were pissed off with him

You should be a professional scout as they spend much longer than fifteen minutes checking out a player. Dom also got mom vs Grimsby, and scored a fantastic goal in the same game. His loan spell at league two Northampton was also very impressive for such a young lad.

Not crap at all because we have a fair share of clowns that prefer to spend their time hating on our players rather than getting behind them, Paul Ifill for examplehad a great goals and assists record yet some people would jump on the lads back as soon as he misplaced a pass or failed to beat the first man with a cross.

Is there any wonder we very rarely get flair players or keep hold of young talent when we have Dinosaurs that support our club claiming that DCL did nothing, when he clearly has the talent to go far in the game hence why he is playing for Everton in the premier league ffs.

Realism? So a select few of our fans slagging Ifill off at the time is called realism then?

Even though he got the highest amount of goals and assists combined from the midfield that I can remember off the top of my head and that was like 11/12 years ago.

i initially said he had done sod all for us then plonkers start having a go acting like hes the next maradona. he didnt do sod all in competitive games for us. i dont care who he supports fact is for the first team when he came on he looked out of his depth. and yes you can tell a good player by looking at his off ball movement, positioning, touch..which you can show in a series of sub appearances which he had and didnt. true quality players can change a game in 5 mins. he may be decent but he is no world beater and would not be in our first 11 no wonder we snapped evertons hands off for the fee we got. and do me a favour just because i dont rate him do not assume i dont like him ffs show some maturity

You're right in that most of DCL's performances for us weren't very good. However, if you saw his goals in L2 and his pre-season performances you'd see that he had some potential. If we had the time to develop him he could have been a good player for us but after six years in this division we don't have time to mess about bringing kids through. So we took the cash to bring in experienced players who can do it on a consistent basis.

Non of that means DCL is shit.

He has openly said it's because of the situation we were in, we weren't in a position to wait for potential. We needed players to contribute here and now. We got a decent deal for him but I thought we could have got more.

DCL has all the physical attributes to go a long way, and he is technically excellent. Positioning and awareness was probably his biggest weakness but he's clearly learning plenty at Everton. He barely played as a striker until he turned professional and he is much more suited to be in the areas that Koeman is using him in. Good luck to Dom, I hope he has a blinding career.

As for spotting a player in 15 minute cameos... wow. Absolutely baffling. My job would be so much easier if that were the case.

That's summed up the situation pretty well. Had he stayed, I doubt he'd have had a serious look in until the 2nd attempt at getting Clarke in the team failed. At that point CW had made it clear he was looking for an alternative to Done, and Lavery still wasn't quite up to the fitness levels required.
