Weir dignified as always. To summarise what he said: the brief at the beginning was to change and modernise the culture of the football club over the long term. The brief then changed and became more about getting results. He felt he wasn't given enough time but isn't bitter about it. He and Carsley will take some time to reflect and will become better coaches/managers because of the experience.

He's got no right to moan about anything. Same with the other people who say he deserved longer.

Yeah he was brought in for a longterm project, but you can't just lose every game and be bottom of the league whilst you're doing it. Christ he was offered a job with one of the biggest clubs in the division, with no real expectations except not be in the relegation zone and he still fluffed it up. Very few managers get that luxury, Wilson got the sack when we were 5th in the league!

He's a decent guy, everybody wanted it to work out, but it didn't and quite obviously never was going to.

Listening to that pissed me off. Not because of David Weir, who was dignified and never tried to shift blame, but the questioning of the presenters who were firmly of the opinion that the sacking was out of order. And why? Because he was a good player, he coached at Everton and had the advice of David Moyes. What fucking rubbish!

So we shouldn't have worried about the god awful lack of creativity, goals and excitement, ne'er mind we were conceding goals regularly and getting dicked by clubs with smaller budgets than our academy. He was of good stock, one of the establishment and should be allowed to run us in League 2 in pursuit of his long term vision.

The thing is, no one expected us to be winning the league at a canter. If we were on around 15 points then no one would be too concerned, as long as we could see signs of improvement. But there was nothing.

Who the hell else - other than Accrington it would seem - would tolerate a manager with one win in 13 games?

Surely the brief would have been to change the style WHILST getting results. I can't believe any board would want the former and be happy to sacrifice the latter.
