It’s amazing how players in the final year of their contracts play so well.
Then as soon as they sign an extension their form immediately drops. Happens to so many players in football.
Some examples Ched, Sterling. Forestieri, Nuihu.

If it is two and a half we will have had to offer this perhaps because of other clubs sniffing round offering more cash but a shorter contract
