gday all

im an australian, and i dont get to hear too much bout sheffield utd where i am. just wondering bout dave carney and whats the latest. seems he's out of favour with blackwell. is he playing reserves or what? is he looking for a loan move? is their any chance he will be back in the seniors, his first season wasnt too bad eh?

anyway cheers

yeah, Australia have picked him for our upcoming World cup qualifier against Bahrain. It seems strange his situation with the blades. is he gonna be match-fit for australia. it seems a mystery?

Ay up, welcome to the forum :hello:

Carney played half of the match for the reserves yesterday when they drew 0-0 with Nottingham Forest. Match report: HERE

his first season wasnt too bad eh?

I'd say that he didn't do anything particularly wrong in his starts, but saying that, he hasn't done anything particularly right either. Last season he was playing in a vastly underperforming team. This season, something has clicked in the midfield and unfortunately for Carney... it's clicked without him even getting a look in.

We've had Ozzies on here before and the general consensus down under seems to be that the Championship is full of thugs and cloggers. This isn't exactly the case and tricky players can often do quite well when they get the ball.

It's the "getting the ball" bit that Carney seems to struggle with. He's what we'd call "nesh"... he doesn't want to get involved in challenges of any variety. This failure to get involved sees him drift out of games and the consequence is he makes no impact whatsoever.

He probably has the skill to make it, but not the attitude :)

To be honest i think he is probably the only Australian in world sport who has got no bottle and plays like a poofter.

I'm not overexaggerating but he is probably one of the worst players i have seen in over 25 years of watching Sheffield United.

I disagree, i think he has the potential to be a good player at this level but he lacks some of the vital ingredients in order to be successful at Sheffield United.

A massive emphasis is put on hard work at our club and so flair players very rarely succeed here unless they are prepeared to get stuck in as well. If he were to join a club that afford their wingers a little more freedom then he would probably prove to be successful.

The vital ingredients include the following

- Skill
- Pace
- Shooting
- Bravery
- Teamwork
- Effort
- Tackling
- Heading

Apart from that he is a world-beater

How many times have you seen him play?

Does it matter how many times i have seen him?

All i said he is amongst one of the worst players i have ever seen in a Sheffield United shirt, and i'd back my judgement about what i have just said about him.

That's a bit harsh mate. 'Flattered to deceive' might be a kinder way of putting it. I've certainly seen a hell of a lot worse than Carney in my time.

Believe me :(

You and me both mate, but in amongst the plethora of worst players i struggle to think of one with an over-inflated opinion of himself like Carney has, and a player who plays like a poofter in exactly the same way as Carney.

To be honest he didn't really do much wrong for us. I personally liked him and he hasn't really been given much of a opportunity recently.

He was woeful against Hudderfield in the cup and I assume he hasn't shown anything in training or the reserves to suggest he should be given a shot.

He had as good a chance as every one else preseason, often playing in the same games as Sun Jihai and Ugo Ehiogu... both took the chance to get themselves noticed.

How can you forget Dougie Hodgson :D

A one-time member of the forum... until some members told him he was lying about who he was and then he never came back again :(

continuing on with David Carney. anyone got any news about him regarding a possible move during the transfer window. is there anything in the local papers, maybe a loan stint or something?? cheers
