David Brooks interview

For some the benefit of hindsight, but can anyone seriously doubt that without this deal being struck we probably wouldn't be where we are?

We all tend to live in the moment, but there's life beyond today, so who knows which players will be wearing the red and white stripes over the next 12 months?

Let's be thankful for the nutmeg on the Wednesday player, it's moments like this that make it all worthwhile.

Shame his agent couldn't wait to line his own pockets for one more season. Brooks could have made it to the Prem with the club that rescued him from post-Academy-release obscurity.

Never mind. We've moved on. And fairly effortlessly, as it turns out.
His sale funded our purchases this season. Don’t let anyone tell you otherwise. The accounts will show this when they’re published. We wouldn’t have got promoted without Egan and Norwood.

It hurts to see him now doing so well in the PL and also, with all due respect, at a League One sized club in AFC Bournemouth, but fair play to them they've done well and so has Brooks. We'll never know how much of the existing team may not have arrived had Brooks not gone the other way, but he did great for us and I wish him well in his blossoming career.

Absolutely. You're preaching to the choir here, Bush. I've never seen it any other way.

Disagree.

Doubt we’d have made the play-offs if Brooks had stayed. Would much rather have Egan and Norwood instead of Brooks in our formation.

Of course it would have been good to receive a few million investment so we could have improved the team and still kept Brooks.
Although if we’d have forced Brooks to stay he might have thrown his toys out of the pram, his form nose dived and the morale within the squad suffered. Who knows?

As per others - absolutely 100%

you can add Hendo and McG to those 2 above - the entire spine of the team changed in one close season - lucky or masterstroke? I know my answer.

UTB

Absolutely. You're preaching to the choir here, Bush. I've never seen it any other way.

If you acknowledge that Bush is right, and that we wouldn't have made it to prem without Norwood and Egan, then why did you say this:

Brooks could have made it to the Prem with the club that rescued him from post-Academy-release obscurity.

He patently couldn't make it to prem with us if him staying meant we couldn't afford Norwood or Egan.

Also, you said this:

Shame his agent couldn't wait to line his own pockets for one more season

You don't know the motives of the agent and you have no idea if he did it to "line his own pockets".

Even if Brooks had stayed and got us promoted, his career is still better off for having moved to Bournemouth: he's one of the first names on the team sheet for an established PL club.

Whatever the motive of the player or the agent, the decision has been vindicated as good for his career.

An unfortunate but necessary sale. Totally agree Utd would be nowhere near top 2 if Brooks had stayed and DH, JE, ON, DMc etc. not signed.

Great to see him flourish in the Prem and really hope he goes on to bigger and better things (before rejoining Utd for the Champs League campaign :-) )

‘We wouldn’t have got promoted’. A bit premature me ole fella!

Ahhhhhhhh the brooks moneh where did it go?
10 cases of anti deludomol vaccinations
1 pork pie
some bloke shouting "get ya programs....3 quid a progam...get ya program...3..."
four candles for floodlights or digging up the desso....:( sorry
two bags of jelly babies and a packet of salt and shake.....
plus investment in the new bayshark album possibly...might soon be released in the next week or couple of days even....

Fuck him, he's not with us any more

Quite right and no idolatry at the Lane.

Forget the wonderful nutmeg at they sty and that goal at DirtyLeeds, he is dead to us.

Have you thought of joining ISIS and getting a flight out to Syria to blow up some ancient carved statues to make a point?

Can I proffer a gentle suggestion?

Wanker post.
