As much as I don't think Harry will bring anything to the table, the stick that the bloke is getting on here is a disgrace.

Totally agree. And anyone who doubts his affection for the Blades is wrong. I over heard Geoff Taylor giving Bassett a report over the phone of a 0-0 draw away at Plymouth a few years ago and he said "No Dave, we were terrible"

I didn't know it was the official "Slag off a Blades Legend week". I can't wait until we get around to giving Jimmy Hagan and Fatty Foulkes a good old kicking!

I also can't believe people are still whittling about whether we're going to play "hoofball" or not. Have you seen the league table lately?
We just need to get some points on the board now, doing whatever it takes and we can worry about playing football "the (one and only) right way" once we're safe!

I can't see any negatives of having a survival specialist on the books when we need to erm, survive!

Oh dont go there Sothall. Sorting out our immediate problems is far too sensible a comment.....think about our future and changing the club ethos will you?! ;)

Makes you shake your head when you read insulting comments about one of our greatest ever managers. The man did a fantastic job at SUFC and has come in to help us at a time when we're on our knees. Deserves a bit more respect IMO.

WTF is up with you people, "harry" is a true blades legend and like the 3 time returning deano should be welcomed back with open arms, this guy was and probably still is one of the best motivators in the buisness as an added bonus i think still holds the record for most bleeped words in a a single 30 min episode of any tv show plus no matter what people think, he still has contacts thru out the game.
i say Bring him in, back to the fold.
btw can he play on the wing as we are still a little light there?

MunXy

His words haven't been too kind to us in the years since his departure, tipping Palarse to beat us in the play off final for one, but his time here was exciting if nowt else. The mention of his name dosen't conjure up hoofball to me but it does bring up memories of Leicester away etc.....

Welcome back DB, but for what it's worth, I think he'll be gone in the summer!

Good luck to him adams and him are good friend i hope dave bassett isnt here for his job his experience will help the blades.

1. He was a great motivator. I assume he still is.
2. Excellent contacts throughout the game.
3. He'll take some of the pressure off Adams, who must be feeling it right now.

Sounds good to me.

I was thinking today, wouldn't it be great if everything in the world was edible? That way, if you're feeling a bit peckish, you could pick up a rock off the floor and feed yourself. Everything need not taste great, after all that's what Hendo's is for.

Thoughts please guys.

Egg firmly on face!

What a fool he must feel now!

Seriously, how many Blades wouldn't have predicted us losing a vital one-off match.
Just goes to prove he's been infected with the red and white bug if you ask me.

Dave Bassett - Top Guy
It's just what we need
Forget about pre conceptions, longball, etc etc etc
This guy is a Blades legend and a winner
Long ball bollocks - what would we do now for a Glyn Hodges, Brian Deane, Tony Agana and Jocky Bryson
And perhaps someone who could deliver a dead ball like John Gannon
This pile of shite will wonder whats hit them'
UP THE BLADES :nana::nana::nana::nana::nana:he's a BLADE

cock on with that pal.
welcome back DB

Whilst I can't see Bassett having a major impact, I agree with Houso about the stick he is being given being a disgrace. 'Harry' took charge of United and took us to TWO successive promotions, an FA Cup Semi Final and three years of Division 1/Premier League survival on a pittance. Yeah, the football wasn't great but how could it be anything better when he never had anything to spend? Blades legend, always will be. I can only think that the people having personal digs at him are the youngsters who never saw his team battling their way to a 2-1 win over Man United in the cup and in the league, never witnessed Leicester, never saw Deane and Agana at their brilliant best and never saw us win a pulsating replay against Blackburn Rovers.

Woah, Bassett back with the blades?

This just shows Mickys desperation I'm afraid. He doesnt know what to do and is looking for devine inspiration. Not that im saying bringing 'arry in is a bad thing. If it helps to motivate the players and - perhaps Micky himself - then its got to be a good thing. What have we got to lose?

Must admit though, as much as i loved Basset when he was here, after the apparent way he was treated by the club that led to him leaving, im not sure he's had a good word to say about us since.

Nevertheless, welcome back Harry boy!

For what its worth Harry gave me the best times as a blade, exciting, attacking, energetic, high tempo football, not always played long but down the wings, and every time we went forward you expected a goal. What would you give for some of that now? So stop slagging the bloke off and give him some credit for what he achieved on a very small budget.

What are the odds that he's our caretaker manager before the seasons out?

Atleast we prepare ourselves to pass the management role on to the next man by getting them onboard early.

This will hopefully be a stroke of genius but for me It seems like what wednesday did last season getting Wilko in as chairman.

If i was an owl i'd be pissing my pants with laughter right now. Micky will be gone by the end of the season, of that i have no doubt, and Bassett will be picking the team come mid april.

Lord help us.

Smacks of utter desperation and listening to Adams it sounded as if there was already resignation that we're gone, especially the references to Bassett's initial relegation.
Almighty mess and still no sign of leadership from the top.
We need one or two genuine quality loanings to stand a chance. Anything else smacks of shuffling the deckchairs.

If Bassett helps Micky keep us up then they can spit roast Mr. Cutler in the centre circle on the last match of the season for all I care.

How the tables have turned.

I wonder of those people welcoming Bassett back, will be clamouring for him to take over the team when Adams makes it to 10 games without a win?
