Look forward to it, however, as with all newly promoted teams you can probably bet that (1) we'll have a top 6 team the first game of the season and (2) have a run of horrendous games against all the top 6 towards the back end of the season.

The best time to play any of the top six is probably the first game.

The whole season will be 'a run of horrendous games' (on paper, at least). I remember thinking the same when we first came back up o the Championship: "Blimey, August looks hard. Shit, September looks even worse. Bloody hell, look at October! ... ... ..."

This is garunteed as they fix the fixtures so the top teams don't play each other at the end of the season (not a conspiracy theory btw, see here - with apologies for linking a Daily Mail article, it was originally a Times investigation but behind a paywall. Here's Fatty Samuels defending it btw.).

It's completely absurd that they do this. Pretty much everyone in the country would have loved to see LIverpool v Man City as the final game of the season (which probably wouldn't have happened in a random draw, but at least it could have happened).

Oohh good, that means on 12th June someone will be posting that they have seen a leaked copy of the fixtures with us playing Bournemouth away on the opening day, which turns out to be wrong.

Don't forget the leak which states we won't be playing the Pigs.

Will we have got out of Kabul safely by then?

didn't you know its Newcastle at home :D

Statistically there's a game against the top 6 every (technically very slightly more than) third game even if they were evenly spaced out so there's bound to be a run or two of several games in a row against them. But it's the runs of games against Bournemouth, Brighton, Norwich etc that are more important for survival
