Dean Henderson reckons he is the best goalkeeping coach he has ever had. CWAK rightly take the plaudits, but there is a fantastic staff behind them who have played big parts in what has happened in the last 3.5 years. So I’m bigging up Darren Ward.

I feared before opening this that it might be a dig at him for Henderson not coming off his line yesterday.

Ward seems to have huge respect from whoever works with him, to say Wilder has kept him on board speaks volumes to me.

I’m sure that Darren Ward had a huge effect on developing Aaron Ramsdale into the keeper who will challenge Deano for the England shirt over the next few years. We seem to have amazing staff in all departments, its beyond belief how much this club has changed.

Not up to his usual standards yesterday. He looked strangely indecisive, particularly coming off his line. Not something you’d normally associate with Hendo. He was caught in limbo a couple of times and although it was a tidy finish I’m sure he’ll be disappointed to have been beaten so comfortably at his near post.

Blaming him for that goal would be silly. Bash and/or O Connell didn't track Deloufeu and allowed him the freedom of BL for that goal.

Second half something similar happend but Bash had learnt from the first half and was on him immediately.

We didn't conceded because of Hendo, but he could and should have done better in that situation and made it more difficult for the Watford lad. Firstly he should have come off his line, and secondly, once he decided that he wasn't going to come for the ball, he needed to make sure his angles were spot on. He didn't do either.

Still, he's still a young lad learning his trade and a very good keeper, so if he learns from it and moves on, it's for the better.

Darren also does the defensive co-ordination instructions for set pieces. Who picks who up. Who does the zone. He's at his most animated when the opposition Subs. Making sure Utd know who is picking up the new man at corners. I'm slowly learning his signals.....

Hendo looked indecisive because he couldn’t foresee the touch, a shocking one at that, that Deloufeu was going to take and thought our defender (Bash?) was going to deal with it but for some reason our Bash? just ran back in a straight line instead of trying to put Deloufeu off, I still think if he runs with Deloufeu he does enough to put him off and he may have not scored. I know he’s quick but sometimes doing enough to put someone off can have the desired effect.

I thought that too at the time but watching the replay, delofeu was about 10 yards out when he hit the shot, so Henderson could have claimed it.

Hi Kuwati, don’t get me wrong, I wasn’t blaming Deano, he’s a fine, top class keeper and has already won us plenty of points so far this season and no doubt will continue to do so for the rest of the campaign. He’s set himself very high standards and I just felt he fell slightly below them yesterday. That’s life. No criticism, it was just a talking point.

For some inexplicable reason Bash just gave up + veered off towards goal , where JOC already was.
This left the scorer with no distractions + a hole at near post.
I imagine this goal will be analysed carefully.

I thought at the time that Hendo hesitated, uncharacteristically for him. But when I watched it back it was a bit of a fluke as Delafucre (or whatever he’s called) made a bollocks of his first touch and it bounced off him several yards in front (he surely didn’t mean to do that?). As it happened he had the pace to catch up with it and that surprised us all, including Delafucre, and left Hendo in no mans land.

I wouldn’t be too critical of Hendo for that tbh. If he’d continued to come out he might have given himself a better chance of blocking it but very fine margins that one.

He was too fast for bash to catch for the last yard. He's a very fast player, we were unfortunate it was him that was onto that long ball. Hendo came, hesitated and lost his angles a bit.

We have a highly respected goalie coach. No doubt.

Wilder and Knill were both defenders in their respective careers. They have defenders “mentality”. This is clearly obvious and in plain sight in just how good our defence is and has been.

What we lack, IMHO, is a specialist offensive coach to compliment everything I state above.
