Brilliant photos.
Batman & Robin in the goal-mouth got me chuckling.
I remember holding onto those advertising boards in the stand behind the goal so maybe one of those lads is a 14 year old me!

We have had so many great away days over the years but this one still tops the lot. I was 14 and went on the football special with my mates (we did 13 away days that season) I doubt it will ever be topped as there’s no way would fans be allowed to get away with what they did that day (all in good spirits of course)

We’re the same age , also went up on the special .. incredible day & scenes that will never be repeated.. will stay with me for the rest of my life ⚔️

I was also 14 on the day (as were the 2 lads I went with) and it was my first real big football away-day.
On the footy special, I can remember having a funny sense that was probably a combination of excitement, tension, shock, fun, fear, expectation & amazement. I can’t remember detail - just this hazy recollection of being part of something crazy.
And to think my mum & dad let me go without an adult......

Batman is a great mate of mine Phil partridge who sadly died about 10 years ago.
That’s a shame Sitwell,I can remember seeing Batman earlier in the day and on the pitch, great times, great memories ⭐❤️

3 of us went to so many away games that season without our parents knowing. I think we had 2 or 3 night matches where we said we were stopping at the others house. They all thought the Darlington game was our first away day! After Peterborough we didn’t think it could be topped. How wrong were we!

I was 15 at the time, and your last line about your Mum and Dad letting you go made me smile. I went all over with the Blades from being about 14 onwards, I’d been going to the matches for a few years before, but only remember going to one match with my Dad as I always went with mates. But thinking back, how the hell they let me get away with travelling the country at that age and us still getting back safely is beyond me. Great times, yet so different to how it is now. How I miss standing at matches, just rocking up to a ground and paying on the day, none of the worry of not having a ticket and the freedom we had back then was completely different to today’s big brother attitude, the world has definitely changed, which is why memories of matches like this are so special for the ones that were there
