Mills' bid to seal switch to Bramall Lane
DANNY Mills is the latest big name to try and join Sheffield United's Premiership revolution.
Representatives of the Manchester City defender, who has been told he is free to find another club, will contact Bramall Lane later this week to explore the possibility of a move to South Yorkshire.
David Sommeil, a former team mate of Mills at Eastlands, became Neil Warnock's first signing since last season's promotion winning campaign when he agreed a two-year deal on ******day.
And Mills, a former England international, is keen to join him after telling friends he is unwilling to uproot his family from their home near Harrogate.
Despite the insistence of several leading bookmakers that they are among the favourites for the drop, United are fast emerging as the club of choice for experienced professionals seeking a new challenge.
Adam Virgo's agent has already made it plain his client views Warnock's side as the perfect vehicle to resurrect his career following a difficult first season at Celtic.
Although the level of interest is a source of frustration for the United manager - "Every day I read I'm going to be getting this player or that player" - yesterday, his team was linked with Preston defender Claude Davis.
"I know what my squad is capable of, especially with a few good additions, " said Warnock.
"We're determined to go out there and prove those people who doubt us wrong."
