Is he injured? Seemed very glum sat in the stand last night.

Wonder if he's been told he's surplus.

The contract was on the table before Weir's arrival.
He may well be 4th choice CB behind Harry, Collins and Hill (I think Coady can also play there so he could well be 5th), and 3rd choice LB behind Williams and Hill (also not forgetting Jasper Johns and possibly even McFadzean can play there).
He's a decent back up to have at this level but if means keeping some of the talented kids out then get rid I say and use the wage to bring in another striker.

He starts, so my guess was correct. Interesting that Ironside only makes the bench. He didn't figure at all last night. Maybe he's on his way out?

Or maybe Taylor hasn't played much football this preseason so needs to play as he will be one of our main strikers

I thought Morgan looked very glum last night, not surprising really though, he had the top job and blew it big style.

Considering a number on the bench last night started today, I still tend to think that there's more to it.

He aint gonna be on pennies and his full omission last night suggests to me that he's not in Weir's thoughts.

Lost some weight (Higgs, not me).
I thought that about Marcus Williams last night. He looked so much slimmer, but then I wondered if it was the thinner stripes giving the effect. But if Higgo looked thinner in the black kit maybe the regime has them lighter (and fitter consequently?).

Strikers are overrated anyway. If Real Madrid and Spain don't need any, we don't.
McDonald will get at least 20 goals this season for a start.

We were saying Both McMahon and Maguire looked a lot leaner last night. Hopefully Weir with Owen's help is addressing the piss poor levels of fitness that seemed to abound last season.

Just saw Rovrum have signed Tubbs on loan, bit disappointed we didn't go in for him. Would have been an ideal loan signing i would have thought.

Saw him a fair few times for Bournemouth last year, always a sub, never seemed to offer much.

He scored nearly a goal a game at Crawley. Ironside hasn't even managed a goal a lifetime yet. I know who i'd rather have ont'bench. I bet he scores more goals in his 6 months on loan, than Ironside does in the next 6 years an all.

I see what you're getting at. Who's likely to get more game time though?

He's there backup choice to Taylor which tells a story.

And as we're going with a lone striker, I don't think we need another.

Dangerous game to play imo. According to wikipedia, before going to Falkirk, Taylor played 29 times for Bournemouth and scored 0 goals. I don't know why, it could be cos he's improved a lot since then or most of those appearances were just for a few minutes as sub. It could be that he's not very good and he only scored goals at Falkirk cos Scottish football is shite. I think he will do well, but you can't really bank on it.

If he turns out to be useless, doesn't fit in or gets injured we're left with Porter and Ironside. Plus, who knows we're playing with one striker? OK, it looks like we're going to start the season with one striker, but what happens if we lose the first few games and never look like scoring goals? Or just simply we're finding it hard to break a team down and want to switch to 2 up front. I can't believe we're never going to want to stick 2 up front at some point during the season. 2-0 down and we've got Taylor up front on his own, do we just take him off and put Porter on? Surely not. Stick Porter on with Taylor probably, but that's taking a huge presumption that neither of them will lose form (if they even find any form) or get injured/suspended. Porter seems to be flavour of the month now for some reason, but he wasn't really good enough for Shrewsbury last year and Taylor has never scored a goal at this level. Ironside has never scored a goal at any serious level. I can't believe people can think we don't need another striker. It's like this 1 up front thing has got people thinking we're going to be Spain and McDonald will get 20 goials a season.

What about Murphy, in my opinion, the best striker we have when played in the proper position.
