Every team needs a few old hands. The best of them are worth their weight in gold. There is no merit in youth for its own sake. Some of us seem to be on a strange campaign to assemble a team of foetuses.
What we would have given for a fully fit Morgan last season.

Can he play today? THis is similar to last seasons 2 games against Oldham and Walsall its unreal. We gpt a kid in on loan for th walsall game at centre half, who was it now? Think his surname began with L.

John Egan I think you're on about pal. He was at Bradford earlier this season, they rated him until he got injured!

He looks like a talker, which is what we need. I think he'll do well for us. Could have done without the bloke behind me saying 'Stoke, hoof,' everytime he got the ball.

Did he literally just play that one game for us? I didnt make the Walsall away game and cant remember ever seeing him.

That was indeed his only appearance, though he was an unsued sub a few times.

Kitson apparently called him to come to us. Good call

yeah i was being a bit tongue in cheek about the youngsters thing. should be a good signing if he was good enough to play for ipswich, and they wanted to keep him. defo need to keep it season by season though at his age. hopefully weve finally seen the light and stopped giving silly contracts to pensioners.

I think it finally show our intenions to get out of this league 2 signings and not just short term we will have cover for the rest of the season now

From Stoke, according to today's Daily Telegraph:

"Danny Higginbotham, the defender, is set to join Sheffield United on loan with a view to a permanent move, after his spell at Ipswich Town was cut short"

WB
On BBC sport it says we got as a free transfer not a loan.

Thought we needed to move some on before bringing anyone in ? We got the keeper cover in Coyne, now we have centreback covered and a nice signing in the pipeline to make us all happy eh ................... who's going Maguire or Long or both ???

My money will be on Porter

From what I remember of him, Higgingbottom is quite Morganesque at defending and also has the ability to score amazingly fierce free kicks. Welcome to BDTBL!

Also banned for a year for an alleged assault on a referee while playing in Belgium, reduced on appeal. Very Morganesque :)

Thought Higginbottom plyed well yesterday. He is a talker and good organiser of the defence. He will be a good signing in my mind. You do not play at Prem level all your career unless you are good. He is old, hit has dropped down a couple of levels. He is a little Morgan-esque in that he is a stopper. Big, strong and hard. He took some knocks and but his head in the way a few times yesterday. I was also impressed by his ability on the ball though, He is comfortable in possesson and distributes well. At Oxford he often dropped back and gave Long an option or gave the full back an option from throws.

I was talking to a clayhead mate yesterday and he mentioned the free-kicks and how there was none of this fancy bending it over the wall, it's sheer power.
