From Stoke, according to today's Daily Telegraph:

"Danny Higginbotham, the defender, is set to join Sheffield United on loan with a view to a permanent move, after his spell at Ipswich Town was cut short"

the bit that says`his loan deal at ipswich was cut short`sounds a bit dodgy.
injury prone?we`ll see.

Sky Sports have a different story:
Stoke defender Danny Higginbotham looks set to leave the club on a permanent basis in January - but not for Ipswich.
Town on Friday agreed an extended deal with Stoke for the defender, who arrived at the start of September on a deal until the new year.
But Higginbotham, 34, who has made 12 appearances for the Championship club, now looks set for a move elsewhere after rival clubs showed interest in his services.
Manager Mick McCarthy told Ipswich's official website: "We had agreed a deal with Danny to stay but there has been interest in him from other clubs.
"That comes as no surprise as he's a terrific professional and that's why we wanted to keep him here.
"He wants the chance to earn a permanent move and preferably something which is closer to his home.
"I can understand that and if it works out for him then I wish him all the best of luck."

Sod his throw, can he bloody defend!?!?

Unless his fitness has deteriorated he should be solid. Prefers centre half, but can also play left back.

Having played for Southampton, Stoke, Sunderland, Stoke again and now us it seems he prefers to play in red and white stripes!

Can he play today? THis is similar to last seasons 2 games against Oldham and Walsall its unreal. We gpt a kid in on loan for th walsall game at centre half, who was it now? Think his surname began with L.

Why is this a different story? What's your take
Well, Stoke say he can leave on a permanent, and that's why (I'm guessing) his loan at Ipswich was cut short. Wherever he moves to next, it won't be on loan. When I said "different" story, I meant "slightly different", or "new perspective".

youth is the future. at last weve realised that. ;)

Every team needs a few old hands. The best of them are worth their weight in gold. There is no merit in youth for its own sake. Some of us seem to be on a strange campaign to assemble a team of foetuses.

I'd happily give Higginbotham a short permanent deal.

34 yr old ................................. sure to give him a 3 yr contract ;)

I believe we got Matt Hill and a young lad from Sunderland called John Egan. (Hill wasn't from Sunderland)
We lost 3-2 that night. Willo and Ched scored for us if i'm not mistaken.

Oh yes, Egan! Don't know where I got L from!

Fair play Danny boy. Acting swiftly and getting him in. Fingers crossed he comes in and does really well.

As I understand it, loan only at Ipswich with nothing else, we offered a 6 month contract with a view to extending and Stoke agreed to terminate what was left of contract so he could accept the offer!

I thought when his loan was cancelled at Ipswich he would be coming to the lane. Good business. I'm not so good at predicting lottery numbers!!!
