Reading were a L1 team under embargo and he had to coach the oplayers he had. He manged to move them up the table to near the playoffs, so fair enough, but it is nothing like taking on a high achieving Championship squad, fine tuning it, and getting more out of it.
Hull started well (0-3 at the Lane for instance), but the players soon ran out of steam, and they only stayed up in the end on the last day, due to others failings. A small achievement, yes, but hardly the mark of a master coach.
Neither of the above, suggest to me that he should have been the only candidate for a Championship club on parachute payments, expecting promotion this season.

Charlatan? Well he talks a good game about high press and 'total confusion', but the only confusion I see, is with our players. When people like Peck, Burrows and Hamer have gone massively backwards, questions need to be asked. I don't buy the 'only want to play for Wilder' line, I just think they are completely bemused about what they are supposed to be doing.
