Danny Hall!

I can’t read the star website, it’s like trying to navigate the internet in the 1990s. Although I do enjoy trying to guess how many pages it will make me click through to discover “the 10 least likely areas to be burgled in Sheffield” Spoiler: 15 pages. Number 1: Lower Stannington. Ontaining this knowledge was definitely worth having my phone more infected than Reagan MacNeil
I was convinced they were owned by Reach plc but now they’ve managed to come up with that shit show all on their own.

If you want to read The Star without all the popup/advertising/survey shit, the easiest way is the Apple News app (if you're on Apple). You just get the stories and photos, fuck all advertising.

That said, Danny is about the only thing ever worth reading from The Star. Free local news is dead.

Absolutely appalled with his constant criticism of Selles in every article he writes, it is dig, dig dig. He is not writing as an objective journalist, but as a bitter person because wilder was ousted, and he cannot hack it, and is trying to create as much negativity towards Selles as he possibly can. If I was Selles I would tell him to f*ck off to another planet
If he did tell him to go to another planet he'd have no clue what the plan was and probably end up recycling the ball without purpose

Littered with ads and trying to get you you to sign up for a ad free package. Thanks but no thanks, I get more news on here with what's happening with United without wanting to know which chip shop is the best in Sheffield 2025 🙄
I saw Danny & Rob Staton having a pop at the ‘Bladesman’ X account for not just retweeting the articles. It’s so much easier to read in the format Bladesman does it though, saves you having to go through that awful website.

Danny Hall definitely has an agenda against Selles, that was clear from the start of the season. He’s just adding fuel to the already lit fire now though.

Leave him alone.
He must be writing his next book on the unvarnished truth of Wilder and the Prince. The behind the scenes story of the break up, the emotions, Heckys sacking, the return and the ownership transfer.

The reality behind the noise.

Quite funny/sad really, got loads of individuals trying to create a journo career out of reporting on two mediocre clubs in a mediocre city. Hardly Man Citteh\United, Liverpool/Everton, Arsenal/Chelsea.

Is anybody going to post any examples of him unfairly criticising Selles? It shouldn't be hard, what with it apparently being constant, yet nobody has.
Far easier to mimic others and trash a good man’s professionalism on social media than provide actual evidence to support your argument.

I think it's like the criticism of Labour from the BBC. He's been much more critical of Selles from the day he got the job. Going out of his way to find fault or a critical angle. He didn't do these things when Wilder was in charge. The general tone and attitude is different.

It's Danny Hall now, before it was James Shield, Its Radio Sheffield, it's Rob Staton, it's Alan Biggs. Some people just love to hate. 🙄

To be fair to Danny Hall, he was posting on here years ago, when he was the office junior, or similar. I get the impression that he is a fan, who has managed to drag himself up the greasy ladder.

All the local journalists need to big up their presence (likes/hits/follows etc), so if pointing out that our current manager is a clueless fucking clown, gets him 'profile', then it's okay by me.

He is a fan. My son knows him and his brother. Went to school with them.

He’s not wrong though is he!?…..Selles tactics are horrendous.

Interesting opinion. Can you share the examples that led you to form said opinion?

The opening paragraph is full of negatively slanted language. ‘Square pegs in round holes’ didn’t seem to be an issue when Hamer was put out on the left, or Burrows was put in midfield, or Diaz on the right, but ‘disastrous’ when Selles plays Cannon wide right and everyone else in their favoured position?

Could be wrong but didn't Hamer and Burrows get in the team of the season, playing for a team that got 92 points? Diaz always played out wide for us as far as I can remember and any comment on Cannon that doesn't doubt his ability to play at professional level is definitely not negative.
In general, we've played four games, been awful in all of them bar about 20 minutes. Most media have cast a very critical eye over what's happening for fairly obvious reasons.

I don't have to waste my time justifying my opinion to you. Especially since it seems quite clear that you'd disagree regardless.
I rarely read the Star but from historical reading over many years it would be extremely unusual for a local reporter to be particularly outspoken about a manager.
Hence asking for evidence. Having an opinion without evidence is the way it often is these days.

I was born and bred in Stannington village and we considered Lower Stannington to be a den of iniquity so I’m mystified by the result. Things have changed since I lived there.. back in 1970!

this was quite a good example after the birmingham game talking about any remaining patience running out after one home defeat and a cup loss playing a second string team.

As others have said i quite like him on co-comms but i do think the local media generally missed the mark a bit over the summer simply peddling the ‘everyone’s baffled and outraged’ view about wilder leaving when the many arguments for and against were reflected in some really good articles on the pinch for example. Comments like this don’t really help either.
