Danny Drinkwater

This has got Wilder written all over it, worryingly!
Leicester-era Danny Drinkwater would be perfect for the central role in our midfield. Unfortunately that player has long since been replaced by the current iteration who has been in the papers more for fights than appearances in the past two years.

Basically because Mcgoldrick worked every other freebie lost soul is treated like it could work when it's unlikely at any level especially so in the top flight
The difference being that McGoldrick had fitness issues rather than general c*ntishness issues. The majority of players that people refer to as 'Wilder projects' have the latter. Morrison and Rodwell certainly did and they were/aren't anywhere near the first team.

I'd like to know what makes you think Rodwell is a cunt? Is it the Sunderland documentary?

Yes, and I know all the arguments about "if you had a contract would you leave?" and I kind of sympathise but he did come across as a bit of a bellend, c*nt might be a bit strong!

He could have gone elsewhere, improved his own prospects as a footballer and removed the £70k a week liability to Sunderland. He chose to stay and basically left himself in a position where he now can't get near our matchday squad at the bottom of the PL, having played for England a few years before.

Why should he, there was no concrete offer for him, Sunderland were stupid enough to offer the contract that's just how it goes

I totally get where you're coming from but several Sunderland players point blank refused to participate in the 2nd series based on how the producers had edited the 1st series to make Rodwell look like he did.

Like I said, I’m aware of all the arguments why he stayed. I don’t believe for one minute that he wasn’t offered decent money to go elsewhere (granted not £70k a week, but he’d have received some pay off from Sunderland if he’d have gone).

I don’t know what I’d have done in the same situation so I’m probably being too harsh.
