Daniel Lafferty

Always liked Lafferty, thought he played well for us, scored some belters, including the final goal against Chesterfield when were stuck at 2-2.

Mentioned it at the time, but he changed the game when he came on for Stevens at Preston last season. We ended up losing the game, but before he came on we had no spark whatsoever, a miserable day out, but he injected a bit of pace into the game and was delivering balls into good areas.

Anyway, genuinely, GLTTL.

Despite not apparently being as attack minded as Enda, he carried more of a goal threat. Might have been League 1, but you've still got to be there and put them away. He also scored the winner against Charlton at Bramall Lane in that run at the end of the season.

He's out of contract this summer I believe so that's probably the last we'll see of him. Good luck to the lad, did well for us in League One and Enda has just been in great form at this level.

He could help P’ Boro to promotion, they have some good players, we might have one of their good players in the pipeline with this deal. Cummings, Godden, Dembele or Maddison for example.

GLTTL, seriously!

Had a great game away at Leicester in a rare appearance last season, and distinguished himself in League One. Will go well with them, a hearty GLTTL.

Did a job that was needed, at a time that was needed. GLTTL

One problem, why do we never seem capable of moving players on permanent deals? Why is it always a loan, even for the older ones?

That's a good point. A loan here does seem like us doing them a favour, given he'll be a free agent at the end of the season. Maybe some gentlemen's agreement about Maddison... or just getting in Darragh's good books generally. Pretty wise given that they always have players of interest.

Only good things to say about Daniel Lafferty, did a sound job for us in league one , wasn't quite able to force his way into the Championship side , but has been a thoroughly true professional , kept on plugging away , never moaned or complained , & always ready when called upon. Good luck Danny you deserve a break.

And he’s already played for Middlesbrough this season, so is subject to the rule that you can only play for two clubs in one season (though be registered for 3) – were he recalled he could only play for Boro, he couldn’t be loaned/sold elsewhere. I think this might be a factor as to why Woodburn is still with us, as Liverpool’s decision to play him for their U23s would mean he’s already played for 2 teams in official competitive games as per FIFA’s rules. It’s the same reason I think that Tammy Abraham will stay with Villa.

He’s played in Chelsea U23s I believe. There’s precedent for those being considered official games, which saw Hatem Ben Arfa not being able to be registered for Nice in Jan 2015. Unless the rules have changed since then I assume this is still the case, and certainly this point was made in the press re: the Abraham rumour.

He has played for Chelsea's Under 23s too apparently.

FWIW that seems like a daft rule, limiting young players from going out on loan and getting experience because they've turned out for your youth team... Exactly as LoughboroBlade says with Woodburn, he's essentially going to lose a whole season of possible first-team experience because it hasn't worked out for him here.

Edit - beat me to it :)

According to the BBC, Abraham could play for Wolves, as the community shield (in which he came on) isn't considered an official game.

That makes sense to me, but there’s still the issue of the U23 game – am basing my interpretation on that on the Ben Arfa case and this piece https://www.standard.co.uk/sport/fo...wolves-transfer-blocked-by-fifa-a4028986.html

Reading that, I can't see why they'd block it or why Ben Arfa's move was blocked: U21/U23 games surely can't be considered "official matches"?

“Players may be registered with a maximum of three clubs during one season. During this period, the player is only eligible to play official matches for two clubs.”

Ben Arfa took this to the Court of Arbitration for Sport – and lost www.skysports.com/amp/football/news/11822/9995775/hatem-ben-arfa-loses-case-against-fifa-after-move-to-nice-from-newcastle

CAS has backed FIFA's decision that development team games are official matches.”

Peterborough's younger fans will love it too because he's got a likeness on FIFA.

Solid servant who did a job when called upon.

Wilder must think Bryan is ready to cover JoC.

He'll never be a Blades legend I think but once a Blade always a Blade.... and will always receive a great welcome if he ever comes back to play for (or more likely) against us.

Hope he does well.

In the starting 11 for Posh against Boro this afternoon with Reed. Good move for him to get playing. Seems Evans wanted him last Summer having taken him on loan previously at Rotherham from Burnley. But Lafferty stayed hoping to force his way back into the squad.
