Another poor performance from him tonight, i love it how Henderson gets slagged off by ever man and his dog, but i've not seen many worse strikers play for United than Boggy.

We have signed him on the strength of one good season at Barnsley at the fag end of a career as nothing more than an European Journeyman trawling some of the more obscure leagues in England.

In 28 appearances this season he has scored a mere 2 goals in open play, for a striker that is absolutely shocking.

People seem quick to jump on the back of Henderson at every turn and corner, but Boggy is a lot worse in my eyes. This has been typified by the best chance either side created all evening when the score was 1-0, and he absolutely spooned it over the bar.

Plenty of other members of the team aren't blameless. I counted three needless corner's conceded by Collins and Nosworthy, basic elementary footballing mistakes. Mattock was poor, Doyle was poor, and Chedwyn put in his usual disinterested 90 minutes.

Make no mistake, at the moment we are where we deserve to be. You sign shit like Daniel Bogdanovic and you reap what you so.

Only players to come out of tonight with any credit are Quinny, Lowton and Monty, the only ones who showed any real urgency on the ball. They're the ones who really suffer from our lack of pace and football intelligence. Do you think we could actually loan somebody who might just move quickly into space for them to pass to?

No. Thought not. :(

spot on brownie. Thoughts i have had for a while, and i just can't understand what people see in him. Offers very little, no pace, lightweight and the only goal i remember him scoring was when it was gifted to him by tyrone mears. (cant remember the other)

Also missed an absolute sitter vs leeds in the last game which left me crying in my seat. Sadly, hes not our worst striker, and if we choose to play 3 up front, he is better than our only other alternative (marcus bent).

in a way, it could be useful for the youth team to get beaten on wednesday night so they are available for the first team. mainly slew! lets have a loo, they cant be any worse, surely :s

I think thats abit harsh on him.
Yes he missed a very good oportunity and should have scored.
But this season at home at least hes been the only one that really seems to give a shit at times. Lets not forget that none of the other strikers have covered themselves in glory. I think its mainly down to service. when you have two cloggers in central midlfield your not going to create much!

From Similar positions Routlidge smashes into the net, Boggy fires over. Its not rocket science really, one was playing in the Premier League last year and one was at barnsley.

I'm glad you noticed it as well Brownie. Boggy is a competent and honest player but I dont know where he gets this reputation from amongst some of our supporters. He's a very average player and despite having the odd good game now and again he's generally ineffective IMO. He had an awful first half last night and I was moaning/whinging/complaining for him to come off at the interval. Far too lightweight for my liking and didnt seem to fancy getting stuck in on the night. He's ok to have as back up but for me a pretty pointless signing. Wins the odd penalty but other than that doesnt offer a great deal.

Shouting for him to come off? On another string you mention how apathetic you were about the whole game didn't you.

Talking of pathetic - Colin? Come on Steel. Let's think carefully about this.

Call it a figure of speech if you like mic, perhaps not shouting - more whinging but you get my drift.....I thought he was shit. Sorry the account wasnt accurate for you I know you take a keen interest.

What about Colin? Think about what?

Difference is Boggy got in to scoring positions and had some good link up play with Quinn.

Henderson on the other hand did fuck all and got bossed by Hall.

That statistic is a bit unfair and misleading. Here's another one to redress the balance. He's scored 5 goals in 9 league starts.

The only time we took Hall out of the game was when Notworthy absolutely battered his face!

well clearly, that is also a tainted stat. If we take 20mins as a rough substitute appearance time, then he has scored 5 goals (inc 3 penalties) in 1190 mins of football.

Therefore, that totals 13 matches and 20 minutes for 2 goals from open play and 3 penalties.

This shows that his scoring ratio isnt too bad, but at the same time is only 1 in 6 if you discount pennos.

another issue with your statistic is that 4 of those goals arent from when he started the game! therefore, his goals to starts ratio is actually worse than when he comes on as a sub!

Yer hes ok, but as steel city said, hes a useful back up, but is nowhere near to the answer that some people believe him to be.

nowhere near to the answer that some people believe him to be.

Depends what the question is.

If it's "Would you pick Boggy in front of Hulse, Beattie (J) or Alan Shearer?". Then it's a NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!

If the question is "Would Boggy get in in front of Bent (now not 10 years ago), Creswell or Douglas Bader?" the it's up in the air.

We pissed money away on him in the summer when it would be have been better spent elsewhere but he hasn't been as bad as a good few this season (which despite no-one's being to blame!) has been a catalogue of pretty poor performances.
