Jim Phipps said that all of the Murphy money was going to be put into the first team, all this wasn't including Billy, Sammon or Edgar so how anyone can defend something that was said shouldn't even be in doubt.

What I will say is he didn't say when this money was going to be used so in equal measure they still have plenty of time this season to put the money to good use, to do this though could be seen as a gamble, and after having a little time to reflect on our transfer window as a whole is a gamble I'd rather we hadn't took and whatever the reasons are as to why we didn't aquire these additions to the first team squad, the bottom line is we didn't get them.

You shouldn't rest on your laurels, you should strive for better things, that's what a club who shows an ounce of ambition does anyway whilst still being in a good position.

After saying all this, I can see the loan window been pivotal to our chances of automatic promotion this season because one or two more injuries and we could quite easily see a Gillingham on our hands again and why risk that happening when you supposedly have more than enough funds to get the required personnel in.

Fair point about when the Murphy money would be reinvested. But Did the Harry money also get reinvested? Out of interest... Seem to remember words to the effect that it would be used to replace harry

Who's to say it isn't going to be reinvested? Are you so sure that they did not do their absolute best to get those players in? Because I am sure they did try.

Signing players is nothing like easy to achieve considering different parties and contractual conditions.

Didnt we get Brayford and Done with that money ?

Very true Swiss. I think what we have to do is not listen to the board at all really.

I had an interesting conversation with the one and only Mr McCabe after the Chezzie match in the Copthorne, where he came upto me and a couple of mates and the main part of the conversation was that we would be getting two players within the next week, hence my post a week or two ago claiming to be itk :) , one was a LB and the other was a midfielder, his words and no one put any words into his mouth, now needless to say it was bullshit once again and I just wish they wouldn't say a word most of the time.

I wouldn't even be able to comment on what other shit he spouted because as soon as he said that one of my mates said same old same old Kevin, to which my response was give him a chance pal, my mate said he's spoke enough shit and how right he was again.

The problem is with McCabe , he talks like a fan to a fan , when asked certain questions , which can have a spin.

He would be much better off , holding his council , and talking as a chairman to fan.

Next thing we would get , is that he is a stuck up , unapproachable bastard . The bloke cannot win.

Not from me you wouldn't bos. I've witnessed it with my own eyes that he comes over to speak without anyone having to say anything to him, I take my hat off to him for that but unfortunately that doesn't make him a good chairman. I would prefer him to be a stuck up bastard and a brilliant chairman who makes good things happen for Sufc rather than fanny about, speaking shite to fans who want to hear what they hope to hear.

Is someone going to bring up the Maradona story claiming 'some things never change'.

Unfortunately some transfers fall through, for countless reasons. There's still ample time to spend this season. Stop panicking!!

Unidentified premier league club for talent deffo Leicester city for Dean Hammond glad the Dan Burn deal is underway again tho hopefully weld have him in time for Bury this Saturday a tall centre half would be good for us

Would they delay it to accommodate 93 day ruling? 111 days to the Boxing Day match against Wigan and 113 vs Bradford, both big games.
That would mean waiting 20 days to have him in for those matches meaning he would miss Bury, Colchester, Bradford and Doncaster games.

That's the gamble we have to take because we haven't brought in a c/h when everyone knew we needed one.

No injuries and/or suspensions and we get away with it.

You could argue that the Bradford and Doncaster games are as important as the Wigan and Bradford games but being earlier on the calendar there is more chance of avoiding injuries and/or suspensions.

Roll the dice instead of plan.

Is it a gamble? have them now for 4 games whilst we still have a fuck ton of injuries or have them for 2 games at the end of December when we should have a lot more players back in the squad who can cover?

Get him in asap. No point missing 4 games, to play Wigan and Bradford. Let's get the points on the board (no guarantees, obviously) and try and be in top spot by Christmas.

"Both clubs determined to push a deal through"

Really? If Fulham were that determined I would've thought he'd be here on loan already at least.

And we should get him in as soon as we can. We need points on the board to take advantage of our rivals' inconsistency, before the likes of Wigan get it together.

See above - Window doesn't open until Wednesday.

Not got injuries to the ch's at the moment as far as I'm aware.

Kennedy is a bit questionable as back up due to his knee/s.
Knees OK and then he becomes first choice ahead of Collins but so far his history would point to two consecutive games on the trot being an issue.

Bash can play CB if we are desperate but means we need more cover in the middle, wallace is injured, scougs is injured, baxter will no doubt come back from his ban back to his pre summer weight :D Would rather miss them for 2 games at the end of december when other teams will have injuries, suspensions etc than 4 games now when squads are still relatively fresh.

I've got a mate who's a Darlington fan When I spoke to him about Burn he was angry with Fulham, saying they had deliberately not played Burn to avoid triggering an additional payment clause in his transfer fee. Maybe there is also a sell on clause and this caused the problem surrounding the transfer, since player, agents and both clubs supposedly want the deal to go through.

...that sounds the more likely cause...hey-ho.....

Fulham's Vital Football site saying they expect him to sign for us by this weekend. Doubt it, but hope they're right.
