Current ITK League Table

Any scepticism is fair and shouldn't require an apology. I'm just another anonymous random bloke on the forum, but making bold claims

The context of the 'my sports teams' comment was just meant to emphasise that I'm irrationally biased and emotional when it comes to sports, whereby I'm the exact boring opposite in my business and other elements of personal life.

I am local-ish (Glossop) from 1978-2000 and 2018-present, but lived and worked all over the world in-between, and am indeed moving back to Australia in 2026. My language usage may suffer accordingly. You don't want to hear how I pronounce 'data' ;)
I'm in IT, let me take a guess. Dayta, Darta, Darda, Datta, Dadda? 😅

Can't believe deadbeat is top after putting me through an hour or aural clickbait on my drive home last night.

Even as an OG listener I almost switched off, god knows how their new, salivating, knowledge hungry audience found it.

I've heard it's all the rage after observing the Star and a few of the other social media channels. I was honest with everything but you know our pods are mostly daft/silly nonsense. If you expected high quality reporting you were sadly mistaken! My in the know status should not be as high I agree. I know very little. If/when it happens re CW, I will tell people where I heard it from.

I did laugh at:

'Almost switched off'

Webding add that to our reviews please!

So when Wilder is still here in September will there be a big points deduction for the leaders of the ITK table!!!!

I really enjoyed the episode. The Gavin & Stacey line about the usual chaos / drama of a Sheffield United close season rang true with me!

Multiple topics, so didn't want to put it just in a Wilder/Peck thread

Had a catch-up today with my contact. I reached out to ask about Peck, but it was much more insightful....

I will get to the Wilder bit, but it was really interesting to hear how much the inner workings of the club have changed since the new ownership came in. It seems a lot of it has been led by Bettis, internally, who I have previously (perhaps now unfairly) criticised as a CEO. He has had approval from the new owners to implement a lot of his operational improvements, which the Prince previously didn't allow him to do. They are very much hands-on with regards strategy, but leave all tactical operations to the CEO, and indeed delivery of their strategy, which is how most large businesses work. The Prince didn't operate like that. Probably a telling sign when they came in and then after a period, made the CEO position a board position, with Bettis in it.

Regarding Peck, no change on the last update I had. He wants to go, and the club see him as the best asset to return a net-positive improvement on the squad. The new ownership are incredibly tight on leaks, so I have no info at all on any other players, in or out.

So, Wilder. He has already been told his contract will be terminated. So anyone thinking it is being done while he is trying to enjoy a holiday, or thinking it'll wait till he comes back, it's already done. What wasn't/isn't fully done was the financial package for the termination, which is handled by Wilder's agent. It supposedly wasn't as simple as the reported 500k termination clause. It is staggered based upon year of contract, and Wilder wanted what was owed (100% fair), but the owners were negotiating. I don't know any more. But the headline I guess is he won't be the manager next season and won't be carrying out any other duties of the manager from now on. The meetings being talked about in the media/socials are either wrong in terms of dates, or wrong in terms of agenda. The sack decision is already done.

Why is he being sacked? It's very much performance-based but also due to an 'opportunity in replacement'. I take that to mean the owners have/had the opportunity to get someone in that they see as better, so in reaction they are dropping CW. That's the best way it could be done IMO. Better than "let's sack him because we don't want him, then look for someone else", instead they found the better one before deciding to get rid of Chris. My contact emphasised that the owners see year 2 of the parachute payments the key one if you want to make a mid-term manager change. It seems that year one is often one you play it fairly safe, then year two is your gamble year.

Interesting chat, though I still had so many deep-dive questions, but this regime would crucify anyone leaking truly sensitive stuff internally. All the above is basically out there by one source or another, except the Peck actually wanting to leave bit. But I already shared that on here back in April
Thanks for the update. 😊

Cheers Cappy

I was looking forward to seeing a bunch of midfield maestros next season in Peck, Souza, Blaster, Hamer and Davies, but looking like up to 3 of them might not be here, which of course would leave us well short

As for Wilder, if he’s gone he’s gone, just hope these new owners get it right with the replacement. Last thing we need is watching us go backwards next season.
If true, can’t help but feel that Chris has misjudged the new owners with some of the peripheral stuff.

Costing them about 450k because we can’t control our emotions when your manager is a 57 year old bloke who has been there and done it probably falls below their expectations. They would have expected him to instil discipline I the squad.

I also think in hindsight a few of his fan type rants may have not endeared himself to the new owners.

Obviously there are pros and cons to any candidate but you wonder if he’d played these things differently that perhaps he may have got a more sympathetic ear. Saying things like “stick your data” aimed at Rohl when one of the owners is a “Data guy” isn’t very savvy.

Not saying it has fully tipped the scales but you do wonder if the “say what I like and like what I bloody well say” approach hasn’t perhaps done him any favours.

There’s an element of knowing your place and they probably don’t like the fact that there is a vulnerability of everything being about one man either.

As with any decision, it depends how good their judgment is when it comes to supposedly trading up.

Taking that I would rather have stuck with CW out of the equation. (Feels like that ships deffo sailed now)

I can't say that any of the rumored candidates excite me to be honest. I will of course see how things go and hope they do well as that's what we all want.
But can't say that I'm thinking, "Yep they seem like a really sound/exciting appointment". Feels like a "hmm maybe it could work.... maybe".

Wilders behaviour this time around compared to his first stint is like chalk and cheese imo

He’s lost his humility. Comes across as a mardy arse when we lose. Then of course as you say, half a million in fines due to on pitch brawling is not a good look

As I mentioned in a previous post, yanks are big on corporate image and it’s not been a good look

Add to that Wilders possible reluctance to be fully on board with AI (not confirmed) then it’s not looking good for him

Personally I don’t see any replacement arriving (the ones touted) and getting 92 points, but what do I know

I think Rocky Man might actually be ITK, you can only be wrong this many times on purpose...surely he knows these things won't happen when he posts them? I see through your bluster RM!

Ruben Selles does NOT seem like an 'opportunity in replacement' type of manager to me. Bit underwhelming if that is indeed the replacement

Ang on, credit where’s its due, I guessed called BS on Rocket Man saying it was O’Neil when the whole world had O’Neil being announced. I demand ITK status and a packet of magic beans
