Quiz answer, who fucking cares? Pity there aren't stats for miscontrolling a football, running around aimlessly, being bypassed by average players one twoing their way round him.

Awful excuse for a footballer, great servant to the club but sadly with the important stuff he never advanced beyond the average 12 year old.

Paul Merton is very sarcastic, I think he's taking the piss.

Wasn't it Frank Lampard who was quoted as saying that Montgomery was one of the hardest opponents he'd ever faced.

Can understand the comments regards Monty.
Ability wise he was kind of shite.....remember him scoring one or two long range spectacular goals
but the number of times he'd be ghosting in unmarked on the far post with a great chance to score and he's blast it into row Z of the stand.
Eventually I learnt my lesson and stopped getting excited when Monty had a great chance to score because I knew he'd miss.
He used to sometimes make me laugh at how technically crap he was.

However he was a great tackler (like a Yorkshire terrier nipping at your feet) with a great engine (could run all day) and he always gave 100% effort every game. He was quite controversial because he was an anti football player, a destroyer that good players didn't like playing against.

He used to split the fanbase, on the surface he was pretty crap and couldn't even pass the ball 5 yards but many of our fans warmed to him because of his great strengths. Warnock always used to say.....he was a managers player.....one of the first names he'd picked on his team sheet.

Agree with a previous comment....that Sereki also looks to have huge potential too.

Monty was limited in some respects but think this is the opposite of rose tinted specs. Remember him coming into central
midfield next to Jags in the promotion season (replacing Tonge in there about halfway through) and it being a real shot in the arm. He was definitely no Messi but did the things he did well really well.
